Always thought I was an average crastinator but according to my wife I'm a pro. Bad jokes, poker and rugby, with occasional soccer, books and NI politics thrown in for the craic

Places for the idiot children of rich folks to go and feel superior to normal college goers. Continues to foster the idea that there are different rules for them

I've had a few of those really high percentage imperial stouts that have been brilliant. There's one from a brewery in NY I had when visiting the bro-in-law in England called Even More Jesus, and it was like 12.5% but so drinkable, one of the best beers I've ever had

If you're making your way up for the match next week we've a couple of decent specialist off licenses, couldn't guarantee you that tasty sounding beer though

They use a smaller sliotar for camogie and there's benefit to it, but when you've had so long with the other rugby ball it will take serious getting used to. Prob an indicator that there was little to no thought ever put in about how the ball size impacted women in the 1st place back in the day

I think if we could get pervert glasses as a definition into the mainstream that might help get them banned

Vocally Dylan is terrible but he's written some great songs, but I wouldn't be going out of my way to listen to him

Like a lot of their songs but they're an immediate skip when the smart shuffle on Spotify drops them in, can't explain it

On the frozen 2 soundtrack sounding like an 80s band trying to crowbar lyrics into the melody of Glory of Love (have 4 daughters so have seen way too much Frozen)

That had AI slop all over it. Should have known to never underestimate the American capacity for misunderstanding communism

How did I miss that 1st time round. Seems like they asked AI to write a book based on Elon Musk's X posts about communism cut together with LOTR fanfic

Genuinely can't take American football teams seriously. The Hell is Real derby, hahahaha what a joke, 2 teams about 10 years old each, you know nothing of rivalry

Yea young McDonald didn't really get into the game 1st half but really came into it, and the rest of the forward line started shrugging off those early 2 pointers that dropped short. Kerry looked a bit old today during that 2nd half blitz from Mayo
000
Seamus Nolan @nuallach.bsky.social · 26/07/2026
Yea 100%. Great story with the whole curse stuff but even the comeback from being battered early was immense. Fancied Kerry to walk it after the 1st 15 when Mayo couldn't score for love nor money and Kerry couldn't miss

Need to start following a football team from a shit league mate. Irish league teams already in EURO qualifiers, Scottish teams enter next week, the fun never stops for us!

I imagine these are the sort of people who complained making helmets mandatory in hurling was ruining the purity of the game. Heard enough stories of biking injuries to know there's plenty of folks still around only because of having their helmets on when some disaster struck
000
Seamus Nolan @nuallach.bsky.social · 20/07/2026
Saw some of the other QTs to this and there's an outcry that a helmet is a barrier to entry for active travel. Some people need to really wise up, it's common sense

Seamus Nolan @nuallach.bsky.social · 20/07/2026
That's a pretty good summary of my feelings too. The lack of real jeopardy in the groups coupled with the time difference meant I didn't really get into it until the knockouts either. Didn't bother with the trophy presentation because I knew the Donald would wanna be the main event

Seamus Nolan @nuallach.bsky.social · 18/07/2026
Yea he wants so much to win that over Messi but even he shouldn't surface for the 2nd half after this farce. Give Kante the armband for the 2nd half and watch him cover more ground 2nd half than the whole French side did in the 1st, just for old time's sake
000
Seamus Nolan @nuallach.bsky.social · 18/07/2026
There's that, but with the exception of Mbappe, who wants with all his soul to beat Messi to the golden boot, France are already on the plane home

Score is to hope JGP can make a snipe and get something from that. Option 2 is to give it to Stu and hope for the same, so yes, if a team can shut down our set piece and have good discipline in defence, then a team without JGP is in trouble, esp if Sam is at 10, creativity not his best asset
100
Seamus Nolan @nuallach.bsky.social · 18/07/2026
Games to figure out if that's the case. At centre we have Gavin, Cooney and Postlethwaite all who should get a crack in something more than a nothing game. That also has the benefit of giving some old legs like Aki, Stu and JGP a break. On JGP, yea basically our attack if we can't get a set piece
100
Seamus Nolan @nuallach.bsky.social · 18/07/2026
Well now you're conflating 2 things I've said to mean the same thing. If we blood some younger lads it has the benefit of seeing if they're up to the level and can expand on what is a small number of players Farrell trusts. Doak could well be our next 9 but you need to give him the reins in big
100
Seamus Nolan @nuallach.bsky.social · 18/07/2026
They're in a bit of disarray at the minute but they're very much the archetype of a team that gives Ireland trouble. Stop the progression up the pitch by not conceding pens and we look clueless
100
Seamus Nolan @nuallach.bsky.social · 18/07/2026
I wish I had your optimism, I feel that any side with decent lineout defence and a solid scrum will cause us problems at this rate, we're not creative enough and too many of the lads have too many miles on the clock. We're an injury to JGP away from being lucky to get through the 1st knockout game
100
Seamus Nolan @nuallach.bsky.social · 18/07/2026
But we find ourselves in that spot too often because coaches think a match against Fiji in Nov with 13 changes is a guy's big chance to show he's worth more caps and inevitably it's a rough game because there's no consistency. That's a long established pattern
010
Seamus Nolan @nuallach.bsky.social · 18/07/2026
2019- Carty playing v Japan despite few mins at 10 for Ire as Carbery was unfit. The self inflicted one was bringing Kleyn after maybe 2 appearances despite Toner being the main man through the cycle, and L/O was poor. 2023- less on that front, good injury luck amd just came up short
100
Seamus Nolan @nuallach.bsky.social · 18/07/2026
We rely on the same core group and when one or more goes down to injury inevitably someone not played enough through that cycle ends up in a tough position. 2015- Madigan had his whole season at 12 or 15 and getting sub 10 mins most Ireland games has to play the QF (great v France though)
200
Seamus Nolan @nuallach.bsky.social · 18/07/2026
Then what's the point in them even being in the squad? I just don't think we should accept the same pattern every 4 years of relying on the same 35 guys and then having to drop someone untested into the World Cup because we refused to try it before then
100
Seamus Nolan @nuallach.bsky.social · 18/07/2026
Some players raise their levels playing around better players. Would Murray not look better outside a Connacht pack. He's a proper lineout guy and we lack that right now so why not try it out?
000
Seamus Nolan @nuallach.bsky.social · 18/07/2026
You put a guy into a test environment you'll know for sure if they're up to it and if not he can move on to the next guy in line. You can't tell me he's learning anything new from seeing Ryan or Beirne for the 40th time when they've been playing for a year non stop

Seamus Nolan @nuallach.bsky.social · 18/07/2026
For all his motivational skills etc this is his biggest weakness. That and his faith in a poor coaching team, Easterby and Fogarty are now diminishing returns while PO'C, Goodman and Sexton don't look like this is their level at all. He definitely has the wrong Sexton on staff

Seamus Nolan @nuallach.bsky.social · 18/07/2026
All in on NZ I've not much issue with but there has to be a time to try other players and Japan last week and Fiji in November isn't enough. Drop 4 or 5 lads in with your regular team against Aus a fortnight ago was the way to go. These are essentially nothing games but Farrell never thinks that
