I love everything about this...! Oshiyama shifts the timing to 1's to make the running feel appropriately frantic. look at Papika~! look at that grin! just swingin' her arms! her hair flowing in the wind, those big long strides, head empty! Meanwhile, her wife is screaming her head off lol.

Oshiyama had mentioned how realistically this perspective maybe shouldn't work, but he was so taken aback by the energy of the song and how fun it was, the motion they do just felt right. He was correct! even on the storyboard, his notes for this section just say "FLIP FLAP FLIP FLAP~!"

i could look at his key frames from this all day.... He shows Papika's unwavering confidence so clearly...! her strides are long and sure, while Cocona is constantly looking around. He even animated Uexküll on 2's for contrast, giving him a springy, snappy bounce.

The animation deforms not just the Chansey drawings to showcase the supernatural blob's abilities but the layouts themselves too, adding funny dramatism to these weirdo trainers dashing away. The timing and articulation are unnatural in a way that adds to it as well. It's so good
