An NTP team completed a drone and ground survey yesterday in Mallorytown, where they found downburst damage to trees over an area approx. 9 km long and up to 5 km wide. Damage assessed as EF0 (115 km/h). Damage in several other areas impacted by the June 21-22 storms continues to be investigated.

The NTP ground/drone survey in Samuel de Champlain Park revealed strong downburst damage (at least EF1). Further investigation is needed to determine full extent and max. wind speed, though it does appear comparable in intensity with some of the strongest downburst damage NTP has seen to date.

FYI, from ECCC. The NTP had chosen to not confirm this tornado due to report inconsistencies. But we will now also remove the event from our records as an 'unclassified visual vortex' given the report has been discredited. #SKstorm

At the end of each year, NTP staff undertake a systematic review of satellite imagery to find any forest damage that may have been missed. In 2024, it turned up 14 new tornadoes. Add in a couple of stragglers, and the 2024 count goes up to 129. A busy year! Details here: uwo.ca/ntp/blog/202...
