BREAKING: Myanmar junta jets carried out 3 airstrikes in Buthidaung tonight (Feb 6). The strikes hit the former LID 15 base and nearby areas, reportedly using massive 1,000lb bombs. The explosions were felt as far as the Bangladesh border. High casualties are feared.

Forced Conscriptions in Buthidaung Reports confirm the Arakan Army (AA) forcibly took 14 Rohingya youths from Let Wea Daung Pyin Shey for military training on Feb 2. Identifying verified victims includes youths as young as 18. Families are fleeing daily amid fears of further abductions.

Reports from Buthidaung indicate the Arakan Army (AA) forcibly conscripted 20 Rohingya youths on Feb 4. Villages face quotas of 25 recruits, including young women, with threats of displacement for non-compliance. Amid network blackouts, many are hiding or fleeing to survive.

On Saturday night (27 Dec), the Myanmar junta airstrikes targeted Kyein Chaung and Ngan Chaung in northern Maungdaw, and Mawrawaddy in southern Maungdaw Township, Arakan, dropping at least four 500-pound bombs. 1/2

This follows the same pattern used by the Myanmar military in the 1990s. The Arakan Army (AA) has built Rakhine villages on Rohingya land. This plan was revealed in 2018 by the brother of the AA's chief, and a video of his speech is available. 1/2

Arakan Now reported that the Arakan Army (AA) has built seven IDP camps for Rohingya in Buthidaung Township. In 2024, the AA torched Rohingya houses, displaced Rohingya residents, and relocated them to IDP camps. 1/2

Today at 1:30 PM, an artillery shell near the military checkpoint in Thet Kay Pyin village killed a young Rohingya boy and injured another. Both boys, who were on their way to Thingana village to buy corn, were reportedly hit by artillery fired by the Arakan Army (AA).

In Mrauk-U hospital massacre by Myanmar junta's airstrike on Dec 10 night, at least 34 civilians were killed & around 80 were injured. A Rohingya family from Pauktaw was getting medical treatment there; father, his son, daughter-in-law, & their 3-month-old baby were all killed.

Last night, Dec 10, the Myanmar junta carried out an airstrike on a public hospital in Mrauk-U, a town currently controlled by the Arakan Army (AA). 33 people were killed. 76 were injured. Of the injured, 27 are in critical condition. Among those killed, 3 Rohingya included.

The situation of the Rohingya in the IDP camps, which are essentially concentration camps in Sittwe, is extremely worrying. Many people survive on sweet potatoes alone every day, while others can afford only one meal a day. Immediate humanitarian assistance is urgently needed.

August 5, 2024 – Naf River Bank Massacre One year ago today, the Arakan Army killed at least 200 Rohingya civilians in Maungdaw as they tried to flee to Bangladesh. Women, children, and the elderly were among the dead. Justice and accountability are urgent. End impunity.

UNICEF shut down many learning centres in the Rohingya refugee camps due to a lack of funds. As a result, many children are unable to attend school. Some children are working or engaging in other activities instead of learning. - 1/

Given the ongoing resistance, widespread repression, exclusion of opposition forces, and absence of independent oversight, this election will never qualify as free or fair. The election is just a tool for the junta to consolidate power and seek international legitimacy.
