A new study from NSIDC research affiliate Alia Khan shows that penguin poop, a light-absorbing shade of green, melts snow. The penguin poop fertilizes snow algae blooms, and as temperatures rise, snow-algae habitats spread, darkening the snow surface. bit.ly/4hHrIhS
