Los Angeles has a fusion of foodways. Katsu Curry is a Japanese dish. Koreans have taken this & run. This has the Katsu stuffed with cheese & it’s served in a nuclear hot stone bowl. Plus, there’s banchan on the table. What puts it over the top is stuffing kimchi into the maw of the Katsu.

On the table is a large round stone pot with three sections of food. On the left is curry sauce. In the middle is rice and on the right are 4 half pieces of Pork Katsu with cheese and a visible gap in the center of 2 sides of each cutlet.

PSA for #InternationalLeft-HandersDay, use a square knot right over left, then left over right to tie your shoes. It feels backwards to Lefties & to right handed parents tying shoes for kids. This is a screenshot of a history from UPS for package that was originated into Ontario California and was expected to be delivered to Los Angeles California. It took over two weeks because the package went across the country to Middletown, Pennsylvania.

Heard this today. Not giving up hope somebody will hack together an ATSC 3.0 tuner for my Roamio Note to @reckless.bsky.social DirecTV branded TiVo remotes were different. They could be used to control any DTV tuner & regular DTV remotes controlled DTV TiVos. POTUS might have a Super TiVo.

This is a photo of a DirecTV branded TiVo remote. Though they look very similar, with its peanut shape, the IR signal was coded for DirecTV gear rather than TiVo gear and they weren’t interchangeable.

In case you were curious to know what one looks like, this is the one from the mock up of the International Space Station that was on display at Cape Canaveral during the STS-95 launch in October 1998 when John Glenn went up in the space shuttle. The ISS was launched in the next month.

The photo is a mock up of the toilet installed into the International Space Station. The orientation of the toilet seat is not horizontal, but more diagonal to facilitate the user leaning their posterior against the seat.

What’s odd is I expected an actual separate train that ran on its own set of tracks & not just an extension of another line that they just decided to rename to appease some residents. I hope you all got home safely eventually. Apparently there was more snow than the blizzard of ‘78 which I remember.

I used to know how to solder. My mentors in college taught me very well, but in the intervening years, something has happened. Even though I watch videos & see folks able to neatly rewire a circuit board with a little bit of flux, solder & an iron in seconds, I guess I need a little more practice.

The before shot of me trying to replace the sheathing over the wires of my bike light the pictures of a small circuit board with capacitors, chips and connectors plus 4 neatly soldered 22 gauged wires in red, black, white, and green, neatly attached to their contacts with a dab of solder.

The after shot of me having reconnected those same wires, red, black, white and green. The solder is messy and gloopy and it is quite possible, there is a short somewhere among those wires.
