Here's one of my favourite "trees reflected in water" photos from 2025. From the pedestrian bridge overlooking Farstanäset near Stockholm, Sweden. It's on my favourite route between Farsta and our home. Avoiding the big roads, nice lake views. #WeeklyTheme #Reflections
A view over a still lake with a treeline on the opposite side, reflecting in the water. The sky is clear, with the slightly pale tint of a chilly day in March.

What a week, and it's only Thursday 😣 I've had so many extra things to handle, none of them good. At least the big old birch looks good dressed in Virginia creeper vines. We should probably take it down before it falls on its own, but we're keeping it for the creeper and for the birds.
A big old birch with dozens of Virginia creeper vines climbing up the trunk and covering a lot of the branches and the upper part of the trunk in leaves. Most of them are now red, giving the birch an unusual look since birch leaves turn yellow, not red.

There are some smaller trees and bushes of various sizes behind the birch, framing it in mostly green since they haven't yet started turning yellow.

Now UPS picked up the "broken" package. So the claim is moving forward. I don't really want to blame the courier, he's probably underpaid with bad working conditions, but at the same time it's partially his fault. I'll see next week if he still has his job, I have another UPS parcel arriving then.

Oh yay, back to trees reflecting in water. Evening shot from one of my favourite spots by the lake. I've posted other (and better) photos of other (and better) sunsets from the same spot before. This one is from 2021. #WeeklyTheme #Reflections
A late sunset photo of a bay in a lake, with trees on the other side reflecting in the perfectly still water. The sky is dusky blue with a stripe of orange-yellow lingering at the horizon.

The Virginia creepers remind me of poinsettias right now. They're invading a big chunk of our garden, but this time of year I don't mind. #ColorADay #RedWed #EastCoastKin #Autumn
Hanging creeper vines with bright red leaves in a green conifer. The leaves are composed of five leaflets originating from a single point, resembling a flower. The colour matches red poinsettias, and the leaflets are similarly arranged, but fewer than the red leaves on poinsettias.

Here's one that isn't "trees reflected in water". Okay, there are a few trees, but the centrepiece is a sculpture that looks like an industrial chimney stack, placed in the river that runs through Nyköping, Sweden. 2017, iPhone SE. #WeeklyTheme #Reflections
A red brick chimney stack in a river. There are several old industrial buildings to the left of and behind the chimney, and everything is reflected nicely in the fairly still water.

Another "trees reflected in water" for my #WeeklyTheme which is #Reflections. Many of us probably have a whole bunch of such photos. At Vänern, Sweden's largest lake. Photo taken from small boat. 2016, iPhone SE
A forested shore and various reeds and water lilies reflected in a mirror still lake. The sky is ominously overcast.

This box was supposed to contain more than just the packaging peanuts. The box looks like it could have been tampered with enough to extract some of the contents. I can't prove anything, but I hope the vendor can do something because the wares weren't cheap. This sucks.

I made a photo feed for my Weekly Theme. Use both the #WeeklyTheme hashtag and my current theme hashtag (see pinned post in my profile) to appear on the feed. Let's see how long I can keep this up and remember to update the feed definition 😊 bsky.app/profile/np-p...

New week, new theme! This time it's time for some #Reflections. Not the philosophical kind, but visual reflections. This one isn't mirror clear, but it still counts! 2013, iPhone 4S I'm mainly doing the #WeeklyTheme for me, but join in if you like! Either use my theme or make your own.
Forest reflected in a narrow lake. Or maybe it should be considered a (former) mill pond since it has a dam and runoff right under the bridge I was standing on, and I think there used to be a saw mill there long ago. The sky is grey and there's a slight ripple ob the surface of the water, making the reflection blurry.

I've posted a photo of the same pond before, taken from the same spot but at a different time of year. I used to pass it on my long walks through the forest near where we lived until six years ago.

Abandoned Soviet era Olympic sailing venue in Tallinn, Estonia. This is the last photo for this week's theme. Next week the theme will be "reflections". #WeeklyTheme #Abandoned
A concrete structure with walls on two terraces surrounded by staircases on either side. The wall on the upper terrace has large semicircular openings for ventilation, I think. The lower wall is full of graffiti.

An abandoned bulletin board. 2021 #WeeklyTheme #Abandoned
A closeup of the corner of a plywood bulletin board that's been outdoors way too long. The layers have split and frayed severely, leaving criss-crossed thin sheets of frayed and weathered wood. Some of the top layer which was painted green is still in place, also very frayed and with flaking paint.

... and now the Social Democrats in Sweden are also behaving like toddlers. "We didn't get the speaker we wanted 😩👶😭 so we give up trying to form a government and let the Moderares and the Left figure this out." Like, what? This doesn't fit my weekly theme, but it's #MushroomMonday after all.
A big cluster of pale yellow mushrooms with a grey rim, either Hypholoma fasciculare or Hypholoma capnoides. They were too far gone for distinguishing between them, according to a couple of experts on facebook.

This is how I come up with my weekly theme. I have an album with photos queued up for posting. I simply pick one of the oldest photos each week and use it for a theme. Looks like "dead wood" would be up again next week, but I did that recently so I'm going to skip to "reflections".
A screenshot of a phone photo album titled bsky. The top left photo is of some old snow covered stairs, the same photo as I posted earlier today. The next photo is of a dead branch that looks like a bird. After that is a photo of a forest reflected in a pond, followed by various other photos.

All that's left of a house and garden that ended up too near a quarry/sand pit when it expanded. 2012, iPhone 3G. I'm making up weekly themes to help me rummage through my photo library. This week's theme is #Abandoned Join me if you like! #WeeklyTheme #ECK
An old concrete staircase in a snow covered former terraced garden. Some of the terracing would still have been visible if there wasn't any snow. The stairs have a simple metal railing on one side. Low winter light sifts through trees just outside the photo. There's young forest in the background. The photo has a sepia tint.

Making this small pot of sauce has taken me 45 minutes. Sauces and soups are the only foods I might spend that much time on. Tomatoes, sweet peppers, chili peppers and basil from our greenhouse. Garlic and onion are store bought. Mine failed completely this year, I don't know why.

My last day of #CoolClouds. I wasn't really photographing the clouds, but I think they count anyway. 2019, iPhone. Next week's theme will be "abandoned". #WeeklyTheme #Stunday #EastCoastKin
A sea view from a rocky shore. There are thin lines of clouds across the sky. Most are parallel and probably actual clouds, but one of them is at an angle and possibly a contrail.

As I state in my profile, I'm rummaging through and cleaning up my photo library. I have an album with photos I've selected for bsky. Now that needs a rummage too, so I'm making up weekly themes for myself. This week it's #CoolClouds, next will be "abandoned". Join me if you like. #WeeklyTheme

Okay, back to this week's theme, #CoolClouds. This was my favourite view on my way to and from yoga class. Can you see the railway tracks? Sadly the yoga studio didn't make it through the pandemic, and we moved too far away anyway. I want to walk to yoga, driving would spoil the mood.

A view of soft green, but treeless, mountain peaks, with a couple of small lakes and flat terrain covered in small rocks in the foreground. The sky is overcast with dramatic speckled grey clouds. It's not as easy as "centre-left bloc gets more seats" in the Swedish elections. Thing is, they still have to form a government. Last I heard, the Centre doesn't want to be in a government with the Left, and the Left demands to be in the government, not just support it.

It's election day in Sweden. It's a close race and the result will most likely depend on which parties are prepared to compromise. We voted yesterday because I felt I might be getting a cold. More than a third of everyone with a right to vote have voted early. Photo taken a week ago.

Have you seen any signs of, well, anything lately? Our municipal council gave us a llama beach. Or maybe a dog beach. Hard to tell. Anyway, it's a sign that they care enough to put up a sign. #PostASign

I stopped eating animals 13 yrs ago. I stopped flying 10 yrs ago. We drive very little. Our electricity in Sweden is fossil free. But it all feels so futile when politicians are intentionally trying to make people do the opposite, and climate change is accelerating.

I haven't been posting a lot lately. There's so much politics going on since we have elections soon in Sweden (mail in/early voting has already started), and I'm exhausted. Here's some nice rock for #RockinTuesday and #TextureTuesday Again, I hope I haven't posted it before.
Bedrock polished by water, with a flowing pattern of rough grooves. I think it's a metamorphic rock, given the pattern. Most likely gneiss, since it's common here, but it also contains iron which gives it a special sheen in places. It's also speckled with round patches of pale green lichen.

European monarchs are symbols and representatives, and have no political power. If Trump was a king, his job would be limited to cutting ribbons and shaking hands. Maybe playing golf. King Harald V of Norway was well liked, afaik. Here's some forest for our neighbours 🇳🇴 and for #ForestFriday

Remember, he can't dictate what other countries call the lake. Not even other English speaking ones. This is btw the lake Trehörningen ("The triangle", because it's a triangle) in Huddinge, Sweden. There's another one with the same name (same reason) ~10 km away, also in Huddinge. #sunset #ECk
A dusk view over a still lake. The sky is dakening, with only a hint of clouds near the horizon. The clouds and the forest on the fat side of the lake reflect perfectly in the perfectly still surface.

Testing germination rate of some other seeds I've collected this year. Most of them are for the herb society, so I want to make sure. Sorry about the #gardening posts, but better than politics maybe?
A square green cloth, usually used for wiping kitchen counters, with a grid print dividing it into nine squares. Each square is numbered, and there are different seeds scattered in each. The cloth is slightly moist and the whole thing is wrapped in cling film to keep the moisture in. It's laid flat on a plastic tray with a flower print.

The cloth was handed out by the Swedish gardening association, specially printed for testing seeds like this. Or you could just use it as an ordinary reusable kitchen wipe.
