I have waves capped at ~40 enemies. But the slowdown comes with placing down more towers. checking when enemies enter a towers range or when bullets hit an enemy causes increasing slowdown. The sprites wont cause a slowdown, from my understanding, but calculations and lopping through lists will.

I havent really tried anything different from just each being their own sprite. This is only the second game ive made for the gba, so im still learning alot and experimenting with different things. By multi-sprite do you mean one sprite containing multiple copies of enemies?

I never thought about tile-based enemies. That might be something i take a look at in the future. But yeah right now the sprite limit is whats keeping waves capped.
