I also can't relate to not wanting kids bc of that. It's not something I would even ever think about, because not wanting children is primary decision, not a secondary thought after analysis.

It’s pretty rare for truly poor people to say they’re not having kids because they can’t afford it. For years I dated a guy worth a lot of money who didn’t want kids bc of finances — ie he didn’t want to reallocate money at the time. He got older. Now he has multiple kids.

A very unfortunate situation, because kids are too expensive is also a position people have when they’re 26 and just want to spend their money having fun, bc none of their friends are married with kids yet

ime this is very very rare and among people who feel this way, you have a gender ratio in your favor with dating. Usually I found I was the first time most men had even thought about their life deviating from normal, whereas younger girls are more likely to be forced to think about it earlier on.

At least 15% of why I stopped dating years ago is bc men would say they didn’t want kids for economic reasons that didn’t even apply to them or their income brackets. It seemed risky and stupid to rely on a changeable situation. Lo and behold, many (all?) of those men have kids now.

This was a pretty small protest, but it honestly seemed incredibly effective. I don’t think that they’ve done this before, the only time I’ve been to a protest at this building was on a weekend. I really don’t think these workers liked being shamed!

Protest outside of ICE’s headquarters in Washington, DC today, focusing on the bureaucrats who work for ICE. Some workers smirked as they passed the activists, but many more hid their faces.

does look like they've figured out how to do this effectively unfortunately. not really much you can do legally or practically to stop expanded 287(g) in places where local officials and electorate broadly support it except hope that it fucks the economy enough for money to complain.

I was just talking about this yesterday (not Amanda’s thumbnail). Mullin is about as smart as a block of concrete, but he’s been very successful at getting ICE out of the news. The strategy has been to get local law enforcement to do more of the work for/with them.
