Klara @notklara.bsky.social · 02/09/2026that's when you take a screenshot and throw it into google images, their ocr is pretty darn good 000
Klara @notklara.bsky.social · 11/04/2026What she ended up pouring out looked a lot better than what I'd expect usual tea bag contents to be tbh 121
Klara @notklara.bsky.social · 22/10/2025you're probably used to interacting with avid corp-haters though. i don't think most people hate them enough 110
Klara @notklara.bsky.social · 11/05/2025Not quite, YT doesn't support ASS directly, people made external converters from ASS to their own internal format 100
Klara @notklara.bsky.social · 03/03/2025What would you prefer? Sometimes I see "Chinese (Hong Kong)", I think I recall somebody saying that's preferable 100
Klara @notklara.bsky.social · 07/02/2025I don't think there are decent clients, but Vencord is a good mod for the stock one, with plugins/styles. Anyway, for now you can turn off the new layout in the experiments settings tab (which is hidden normally, Vencord will enable it), should be something like "Desktop visual refresh" 000
Klara @notklara.bsky.social · 05/02/2025I'd hope that's just a mistake that they never caught because no one on the dev team uses web... but honestly, the title bar is not a good idea even on desktop. It uses far more space than it should for essentially nothing. (See below: an example of Discord shipping updates that are just broken) 010
Klara @notklara.bsky.social · 03/02/2025For a moment there I thought the cat *is* the window sill! 030
Klara @notklara.bsky.social · 02/02/2025even single pages I had bizzare issues, where only the wget one worked, but only sometimes, sometimes it'd show up for a split second... and then get covered by JS saying snapshot has to be updated (and even after I did manually update it) 010
Klara @notklara.bsky.social · 02/02/2025The obvious caveat is that grab-site needs an external viewer for the warc files, but I don't think that's a problem, since all you need to do is load it on replayweb.page 010
Klara @notklara.bsky.social · 02/02/2025ArchiveBox seems like a really neat project, but I've tried it and at least in my experience it's far more finicky than just using grab-site. Maybe it's better with Docker, but for me it mostly just didn't really work, with half of the capture methods not working at all, and the rest being broken. 210
Klara @notklara.bsky.social · 29/01/2025Dates back to at least 2002, when the screenshots on the official page were taken. It's unusual to see a local solution nowadays, in an age where most of the software comes from global corporations. By now imported solutions have started popping up, but from what I can gather, this is still the king 000
Klara @notklara.bsky.social · 29/01/2025Here's a Polish equivalent, DynaMix, used to this day by the largest commercial broadcasters. Not quite as colorful, but similarly dated. Photo here is from 2014, but I'm sure it hasn't changed even a bit since (a few more distant shots I've seen from 2020 onwards look the same) 110
Klara @notklara.bsky.social · 11/01/2025It's also an unlicensed bootleg, Spain is notorious for this for some reason. 020
Klara @notklara.bsky.social · 29/12/2024If the Italian Blu-ray is anything to go by, it's a solid improvement, I've got to eat my words here. I wonder about the color grade, though, it's quite different in some shots.slow.picsPerfect Blue - 2024 ITA BD vs 2013 UK BD | Slowpoke PicsSlowpoke Pics image comparison service 000
Klara @notklara.bsky.social · 22/12/2024wait. does ios not support simple bluetooth transfer?? not that I've seen anybody using that on android in many, many years, but it's surprising to me because I've never considered they would just... not have that 110
Klara @notklara.bsky.social · 20/12/2024Huh, that's interesting. In that case I wonder if it's the opposite, maybe the subs match a dub if there is one. 110
Klara @notklara.bsky.social · 20/12/2024It used to be a fairly common practice during the DVD era to edit subs for brevity, thankfully it's mostly gone now. What's the original language? Indian productions tend to be dubbed in multiple languages, it's possible the subtitles translate the original, rather than the (English?) dub. 110
Klara @notklara.bsky.social · 20/12/2024For streaming it still is, though depends on the VPN. They have some blocked, but e.g. Nord works very well for that purpose (despite their general shadiness) 010
Klara @notklara.bsky.social · 16/12/2024god I wish we could swap, it's been nothing but gray skies and misery here 010
Klara @notklara.bsky.social · 10/12/2024Though Perfect Blue got that treatment already, as the 2019 Anime Ltd "remaster" took the old scan and applied those ugly filters on top of it. It's a massive shame. A properly handled 4K scan would definitely have diminishing returns, but at least it wouldn't be *worse*. slow.pics/c/CegbxYysslow.picsPerfect Blue - Old BD vs New BD | Slowpoke PicsSlowpoke Pics image comparison service 050
Klara @notklara.bsky.social · 10/12/2024I wouldn't mind a fresh 4K scan, but judging from how most 4K restorations of film anime are handled, my expectations are really low here. It's probably gonna get degrained, sharpened and smeared. I'd love to be wrong, but Paprika and Millenium Actress got exactly that treatment. 220
Klara @notklara.bsky.social · 08/12/2024what was up with the first episode? first I'm hearing of this show at all 110
Klara @notklara.bsky.social · 02/12/2024Getting paid means they'll actually approach their work with a certain degree of seriousness and at least try to maintain a standard. 010
Klara @notklara.bsky.social · 30/11/2024Western animation is honestly the worst for this. Doesn't get Blu-ray releases at all, and if it does, they're godawful. Legit streaming gives them minimal bitrate. Could benefit a lot from anime-like filtering, but almost nobody does it 140
Klara @notklara.bsky.social · 30/11/2024I guess I was thinking of underpowered Android TV sticks moreso than older computers but fair 030
Klara @notklara.bsky.social · 30/11/2024not that anime encoders have ever cared about that :D typesetted subtitles are enough to do that 250

Klara @notklara.bsky.social · 30/11/2024Not really. At super low bitrate/size it is better, and a lot of people care about that... but not the people from the post here. If you want absolutely best quality, it just can't match it. 240
Klara @notklara.bsky.social · 30/11/2024For instance, it doesn't match my personal experience at all. Subs are almost always fine, audio is good (though stuck with an ancient codec), video is transparent enough. No video improvement (though there is less to be made), and fansubs for niche films are mediocre, but it's a far cry from this. 040
Klara @notklara.bsky.social · 30/11/2024Seems that unlike with anime, there there's a huge rift between what exists *somewhere*, and what's easily accessible to people, sadly. I'm not sure why. I know most people don't care, but it's the same with anime. Most watch crappy pirate streaming. I suppose those who do just use closed sites? 170
Klara @notklara.bsky.social · 24/11/2024Not to mention that so much of the cost is wasted on Dolby/DTS licensing fees. There is no reason why even object audio couldn't be decoded in software and passed as PCM. And don't forget audiofool marketing about "sound enhancement". 150
Klara @notklara.bsky.social · 24/11/2024And the cost is only the top of the iceberg of problems. So many lack basic functionality like a simple toggle to play dual mono only from the center channel. You get smart assistants nonsense, but no support for playback of open codecs like FLAC or Opus. Music streaming support, but only Spotify. 110
