Next time I’m hiking in the forest, I’ll know what the chickadees are on about.

I grew up in Nebraska, and I’m grateful to be from there but not there anymore. I’d love to send this clip to my staunch Nebraskan Republican sister, but I think he left her town out of the verses. (I’ll have to listen again.) #GoBigRed

Now that I’m remembering my work as a surveyor’s rod-man for wetland mitigation determinations, I’m also recalling a question I never asked the biologists also did WMDs. Wetland vegetation is good because takes up heavy metals from the soil & water. But aren‘t the plants then full of heavy metals?

I remember trying to avoid standing in the wetter parts of the marshes we were surveying, and being dive-bombed by an angry red-winged blackbird. Also, the there was the time we surveyed a dairy farm and had to walk through liquid cow-sewage while the friendly cows licked our gear.

Ex and I moved to Corvallis OR in 1990, not long after George H. W. Bush established his "no net loss of wetlands" policy in 1988. Ex was a hydraulic engineer, so much of his early freelance work entailed surveying existing wetlands for landowners who wanted to bulldoze something. I was the rod-man.

Also, Stephanie Koff @lincolnsbible.bsky.social laid out the Russia/Trump mob back story in her podcast "The World Beneath." She's a screenwriter, so the story is told at a more dramatic pace than Kendzior's reporting.

I've been following Sarah Kendzior for a while now. She lays it out clearly in her books, especially Still Hiding In Plain Sight. sarahkendzior.substack.com/p/still-hidi...

it's clear from the engineer patter that Musk's design brief for the Roadster was "break the laws of physics," which makes sense considering they're really the only laws Musk hasn't broken yet

Can't believe the "Starman" inside the demo car wasn't an Optimus robot: car drives off end of ramp, flips and lands with air-jets, robot steps out and face-plants.

good ear-worm for today! I'm wearing a sweater, thinking I'll have to turn on my furnace tonight. House is down to 65 inside and it's not going to warm up any more than that today. I'd love to have a fire in my fireplace, but I need to have a sweep come look at it first. maybe bake something.

I enjoyed Digger. Felt like Apple TV’s “Extrapolations” meets Terry Gilliam’s “Brazil.” Wish more people would see “Extrapolations.”
