Since Phil.... young players have only ever been a means to get the next star and/or veteran contributor. West lost his voice once Jeanie got attached to Phil and they have never kept a young guy since. If they flame out this year, Austin's the next to go.

ah gotcha. although I guess it's funny both were first rostered by the Lakers so there's a similarity there. the Lakers also rostered Orlando woolridges kid multiple summers and gave shaqs kid a shot.

scotty balling but remember he played 3 full years of college and bounced around the gleague for 2 years before becoming an effective NBA player. Bronny barely played his 1 year in college. The scotty we are seeing is like 5 full years ahead in terms of development.

I think the first few weeks he was so focused on changing the no defense narrative....he pushed himself too hard on that end initially. it looked like he tweaked something a couple weeks ago and combined with dead legs and horrible schedule... the effort has dropped and the short jumpers increased

wonder if utah does this with no draft comp....then lakers save picks for a wing...

notinbtnet @notinbtnet.bsky.social · 06/01/2025
I mean Utah loves them hornacek, giricek, harping, Hayward types lol

notinbtnet @notinbtnet.bsky.social · 06/01/2025
Yeah save picks to add to contacts for a wing

notinbtnet @notinbtnet.bsky.social · 06/01/2025
Yeah. I get it. I think we have all been playing both sides - (1) compete now and (2) create a cushion for post LeBron. But to win now, have to basically concede sucking post LeBron. Daltons good - but Kessler is also young (actually younger by a few months) and more useful NOW.

i wonder if utah would consider dalton for kessler....dalton is the wrong timeline (and that defense) - and maybe you can get that deal done with no picks attached...

recurring issue with this team has been difficulty inbounding the ball on slobs..especially end game. they need to figure out a way to make it easier

more things change the more they stay the same. lakers still kings of the fake comeback

ruis leash getting shorter and shorter. its only a matter of time

notinbtnet @notinbtnet.bsky.social · 06/01/2025
dont think danny really wants to trade kessler unless its something wild (aka unprotect plus 2 picks). barely enough assets for an ingram trade and definitely not enough for both.

yeah. desperately need a backup big, another ball handler, and a bucket getter.

notinbtnet @notinbtnet.bsky.social · 06/01/2025
sadly - 20-14 record aside - the lakers just arent very good. have gotten wrecked by just about every good team and any team with length/athleticism completely gives them a hard time.

notinbtnet @notinbtnet.bsky.social · 06/01/2025
laker struggles against good teams continues. sadly the 20-14 record is VERY deceiving.

I didn't care what anyone says. The cavs are 14/15 hawks coded.

notinbtnet @notinbtnet.bsky.social · 29/12/2024
Lack of shot creation and rim pressure has been missing since Dennis left. LeBron can't do it consistently due to age anymore, so it's really just Austin (who still struggles mightily against length and physicality)

notinbtnet @notinbtnet.bsky.social · 29/12/2024
No one's trading anything for those 2 guys and jeanies not signing off on waiving anyone with a guaranteed deal and eating that contract (remember"throwing in" zubac to dump Mike Beasleycs min contract 🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️)

I've seen. He's super inefficient shooting the ball, hasn't really facilitated well, ball hogs but can get hot

Move jHS for some 2nds....pick up fultz. Sounds good

Should have gone DFS/Sharpe (of available) and then traded for another ball handler

Devonte graham is not good. That Charlotte year was a huge aberration from the norm

notinbtnet @notinbtnet.bsky.social · 29/12/2024
Pretty sure they view max/cam as their 3&d wings (even though cam can't shoot). Definitely need a big and now definitely need another playmaker/ball handler.
100
notinbtnet @notinbtnet.bsky.social · 29/12/2024
From what I know about him, decent ball handler, not really a creator, and a can get hot and score in bunches guy. Dlo level on ball defense - but not as good as playing passing lanes.
010
notinbtnet @notinbtnet.bsky.social · 29/12/2024
Yeah because as it stands ... The primary issue was needing a backup big, which is still needed. But now, there's a need for ball handling too. And not to discount the fact that dlo was the best at getting the ball to the bigs

notinbtnet @notinbtnet.bsky.social · 29/12/2024
NGL....wish it was dfs plus Sharpe. Then move pieces (Vando?) for another ball handler
200
notinbtnet @notinbtnet.bsky.social · 29/12/2024
Lakers now need another ball handler in addition to still needing a backup center

Just ditch the game, have the all stars compete in fun kids basketball games. Split them into 5 teams of 6. Play bank, around the world, 3 point shootout, dunk horse, can even do that silly skills challenge. Prize pool is the combination of all the Saturday night prize money - winning team gets all

dalton seems to struggle with confidence/rhythm when hes not starting, but his defensive struggles make it hard to start him. max has really started playing better after a rough start to the season

make it like nba rock and jock's 25 point hoop. the 3 is not in play until there is like 3 min left in each quarter.

notinbtnet @notinbtnet.bsky.social · 14/12/2024
Overall players now are better, more athletic, more skilled. But the rules/style of play of each era is so different that is hard to compare. The game is so reliant on the 3 now which Jordan wasn't great at. Would he have adopted? Probably, but the best players now would to Jordans era too.
010
notinbtnet @notinbtnet.bsky.social · 14/12/2024
Inside is a symptom of a larger NBA disease - the fact that the majority of NBA media (esp former players) do a complete shit job of promoting the league and players. Everything is Jordan was better, my era was better, the current players suck, the current league is soft. Turns off casuals quickly

And nothing wrong with hoarding, I wish the Lakers were better at hoarding/keeping their assets instead of needlessly dumping them for no reason
010
notinbtnet @notinbtnet.bsky.social · 12/12/2024
All true. Just feels you are really close so if the opportunity presents itself to make a move to put you over the top, presti takes it. Windows look open but sometimes they close just as fast with 1 bad move *coughwolvescough*

he has done great w/the team. it will be interesting to see what happens when extensions kick in. maybe they win before they break it up - maybe they smoothly replace whoever walks. but its hard. kd, rw, harden, ibaka were so close. hes probably learned and has the assets - but will/can he do it?
210
notinbtnet @notinbtnet.bsky.social · 12/12/2024
Issue is NBA media has done a terrible job of promoting the game or players. All they do is trash the current league and players by constantly pushing the narrative that the game and players used to be so much better and everything about the game now sucks.

Danny don't care about podz. He just wants picks lol. Him and presti are the ultimate asset hoarders...who then refuse to ever move said assets for a big splash.
