Yes, leaving devices at home is the safest. Faraday bag would be useful if one must keep device on person and doesn't trust ones phone to enter airplane mode which is plausible on phones that have been compromised, but like you say might as well leave it at home.

Minor issue in the piece: I've never heard of "ALPR" cams, historically they are called "ANPR" which stands for AlphaNumeric Plate Reader. Minor pendantry considering ya'll smarty point out how they can accidently or intentionally used to pickup any text in the field of view other than plates. 👍

American paranoia of left wing politics has stewed this issue for close to 80 years. Only in the USA would the democratic party be considered left wing. In the EU, the dems would be center right. Perhaps the idea of class struggle and gross wage inequality has tenderized enough for people to taste.
