Wat Pathum Khongkha dates back to the Ayutthaya period. When King Rama I founded the Rattanakosin Kingdom, he appointed Phraya Thammathikorn and Phraya Wichit Nawi to lead workers to the east bank. The temple, once in disrepair, was restored and renamed.
