Screenshot from an unreleased pixel art game. A large, humanoid figure stands in the centre of a messy room. It has hollow eye sockets, claws in place of hands and a tentacle growing from one shoulder. The scene is drawn with a 2-bit palette and overlaid with a dot matrix style effect.

giraffe kissing game loooooong not-jam.itch.io/necking
2 giraffes stand in a field, facing each other. The one on the right side has an absurdly long, snake-like neck that curls around the screen. The one on the left looks somewhat perturbed.

Drawn in a pixel art style with a very warm, saturated palette at a very low resolution.

happy birthday to me here's a silly little game that I made for you about giraffes kissing <3 not-jam.itch.io/necking
Screenshot from the game necking. Two giraffes stand at either end of an oddly shaped area, surrounded by green foliage. They are separated by the odd shape of the area and a strange, semi-transparent blue line. In the bottom right hand corner of the screen is a bright blue pond.

The scene is drawn in a pixel art style with low resolution and a limited palette. The environment is clearly delineated into 8x8 pixel tiles.Screenshot from the game necking. Pixel art depicting an old, run down car parked at the side of the road on an old, run down street. A bald character wearing a cloak stands to the side, looking upon the car with a blank expression that in context the viewer might interpret as sadness or defeat.

At the bottom of the frame, text reads "the car is broken."

The image is drawn with a purple 2-bit palette at Game Boy resolution.

alternative implementation of shadows on my OBLITERATION shader allowing for more complex shadows user defines number of layers of shadow, contrast, depth and pixel scale, can get real weird with it if you want
Heavily processed picture of a grassy cliffside looking out onto the ocean. It features large, blocky pixels of colour, but with light and shadow rendered with much higher levels of detail. It is highly saturatedThe Scottish Highlands, rendered in an odd, highly pixelated style. Green and golden fields sit between rolling hills, illuminated by rays of sunshine fighting through the clouds. Colour is rendered at low resolution with a low colour count, although this is somewhat hidden by much higher resolution light and shadow.Autumnal birch trees on the shore of a pond, with glorious red and orange hues through the leaves. Colour count is relatively low, with noticeable pixelation. Oddly, colour components of the image are rendered at a much higher resolution than light and dark, resulting in a really strange mosaic-like feeling.A clifftop rendered with a low-colour count palette in a pixelated style. Triangle was a great knotty time-loop movie. I admittedly have a bit of a weakness for this sort of thing (see also Primer, Coherence...), and once you add in a claustrophobic ship setting and it'd be hard to go wrong for me, but I really did enjoy this
Movie poster for the film Triangle. A woman with long blonde hair, white tank top and shorts stands on the bloody deck of a ship, carrying a large fire axe. The shot is taken from a pronounced Dutch angle. The movie's title is displayed in all caps across the bottom of the screen.

evening all computer bluescreened again so I went for a lie down what did I miss?
pixel art mockup for a game. The screen is split into multiple sections, primarily composed of UI elements, with a central image depicting a figure with a ponytail sat in a hunched posture in front of a bluescreened computer. To her left, rain can be seen pouring through the window, whilst to her right is a kitchenette with a kettle and aeropress and a cat sat on the counter. The UI contains a character portrait, various stats, a list of "actions" which just endlessly repeats the word "panic" and a "console" section with an error message.

The image is mostly drawn with a simple 1-bit palette, with just a splash of blue for the computer's monitor and a glow in the surrounding area to draw the eye to it.
