Jaye is probably taking a long long drive around the Avalon Peninsula (the coast of Newfoundland) on her motorcycle. Shaylock is going to DJ a big party, and play all the queer songs she can fit in. Persephone is going to spend the day reading, surrounded by piles of books.

Jaye smiles. Maybe a smirk. She only really laughs in certain moments when she is able to let go. I imagine it as a very bubbly, lilting sound. Shaylock is a quiet laugher. If she's making a lot of noise, she's super amused. Her laugh is more a cackle, like a really happy witch. Very contagious.

*raises hand slowly* This cup made me *write* horror. I don't write horror. Maybe a bit spooky vibe, but not proper horror. Now I have. Because of this sad monster here.

Watched the trailer for the new Newfoundland ocean horror "Below" and now I am disgruntled. What is this accent even supposed to be. There is an island FULL of acting talent, and actual fishermen who might have been thrilled to star in a new show, and you chose this guy???

It blows my mind when people’s defence of using gen AI is, ‘Well, if I need a picture, what do you suggest I do? I don’t have time to learn to draw!’ The same thing you did four years ago, you microwaved fruit loop.

Persephone (Guardian). She is my Designated Cinnamon Roll. At her heart, she is generous, open, & trusting. Despite spending 30+ years alone, serving the fates, watching over the world's story. Fates abruptly tore her away from her life & her only friend. Losing Birch left her broken for a while.

Somehow, almost every major character I have written has, at one point, gotten a POV chapter in their story. Not always intentionally. Sometimes they just have to say what they need to say, even if it is short. That's how Ink Stained Wolf ended up with random side-character thought snippets.

Heheheheee JAYE (She also likes to give out punches) (Also it may surprise, but Shaylock can hold her own pretty well too)

Jaye is... intense. I once described her to a friend as "having a vibe that punches you in the face." Most think she is cold and distant. Though she may blend into a New York subway crowd, you will remember the smell of her cigarettes and leather, and her piercing blue eyes, long after she is gone.

I have been told many times that Jaye, Shaylock, and Matty all need hugs. Especially Matty. The things that have left these ladies broken... give them all the hugs. Jaye will evade, Shaylock will politely accept and pat your head, and Matty will squeeze you back so hard it might hurt.

Ella Murphy (they/she) 🏳️‍🌈 🇨🇦 @nossumusstellae.bsky.social · 17/09/2026

Hmm. Does it still count if the character gets punched in the story? Dillen, Zachary's older brother. He's not in the story much, but oh boy does he have a habit of being rather rude and abrasive towards Jaye. He judges her pretty hard for her past. Guess who does the punching. >:D

Share an excerpt from a review of your book that you're proud of! Friend told me Guardian has "prose heavy with ages and rippling with light" and that it is "a golden re-weaving of old threads, fate and love". Another said it's "a quietly fantastical world reminiscent of HCA's The Snow Queen."

Well considering Jaye has a habit of not turning on the lights in the morning when getting out of bed... yeah. Probably her tripping over something. XD (In the MMA cage: agile and graceful. Outside of it: her feet betray her)

How did I manage to miss this one??? Post canon, Jaye and Shaylock get a floofy black Maine Coon named Witch =^-^= Persephone also has a winged lion friend in the Beastiary. In a fun hockey AU I am writing, Matty doesn't just act like a cat sometimes... she can shapeshift into an orange tabby.

Ella Murphy (they/she) 🏳️‍🌈 🇨🇦 @nossumusstellae.bsky.social · 24/08/2026

Hilariously enough, wondering led to me writing more of Jaye's story and compiling Ink Stained Wolf. As for Guardian's Persephone... she lingers. Her world whispers to me still, even though I know I may never go back. And if I do, the words may not be as good as I want them to be.

JAYELOCK :D Jaye and Shaylock. Beloved broken lesbian idiots in love. They are an utter delight to write. One of my early readers almost shipped Jaye and her rival Kit even though he is gay and they hate each other. Fun fact, this "fan ship" is canon now because of that reader. 1/2

Hard to believe it has been this long since I became one of the Rêveurs. From the first line I was hooked. "The circus arrives without warning." Such an enchanting novel, I will never stop yelling about it. The characters, the little callbacks, the prose, the Circus itself. A toast, to 15 years!

Did the survey. It is RIDICULOUSLY skewed towards AI adoption. Utter blatant bias. This survey is pathetic. WE DON'T WANT OR NEED AI IN CREATIVE AND CULTURAL SPACES. This message has been said over and over, and still, governments refuse to listen. AI is only inevitable if we decide it is.

Oh I love this question. For Jaye, it has always been her distinct Newfoundland/New York mix of an accent 1st, then face, the sound of her vintage motorcycle, & smell of cigarettes. For Shaylock, the vibrancy of her red hair 1st, then voice, her blue/green eyes, hints of dance club lights. 1/2

Ink Stained Wolf has several, though they all tie back to the same moment: the bar fight, and the two bikers who die at Jaye's hand. The third biker never forgot, and takes his revenge... more than once. The first revenge involves murder, the aftermath leaving Jaye with lifelong trauma. 1/2

You all know who I'm going to pick XD Jaye. Has both said (and done) things she regrets. One of those moments being one with Shaylock, shortly after they met for the second time. If not for Shaylock's stubborn persistence, this would have been the end of any hope of relationship between them.

“I thought we were getting on rather well,” I reply slowly.
Jaye turns in a flustered circle, running her hand through her short hair. “No. No we are nawt. I led yeh awn, yeh’re too good. Just. Jus’ go. Fahrget yeh ever met me.”
“Jaye - ”
I raise my hand, taking a step forward.
A mistake, it turns out.
Jaye’s hands meet my shoulders and I find myself stumbling back.
“Geht awn! Geht! Leahve me, leahve here! Yeh don’t deserve me, I... just go, Winter! Go!”

There are many of these for Jaye, will focus on just three ^-^ 1) Learning of/meeting real family- full of dread and really should not be 2) First wedding to Shaylock- smokes almost a full pack that morning out of terror- still feels unworthy 3) Renewal of vows- excited, truly ready- & should be!

My #SmallPitch for Ink Stained Wolf! Best of luck to everyone participating :)

Ink Stained Wolf

All Jaye wants is to escape her past.
Decades of trying to forget the bikers dead at her hand in that Bronx bar. Fighting to not be the broken image of her abusive father she believes she is. Years spent in prison sparks a new path found on Montauk’s shores, and love on the coast of Newfoundland.
All this time, the biker gang has not forgotten. Revenge will come, no matter how long it takes.
