UPDATE 9/25: Friday's rain has forced us to pause repairs on the SR 9 Klein Ditch Bridge (MP 87). The bridge will remain closed until until we get favorable weather to pave the bridge and reopen it to NB & SB traffic. Continue to detour until that work can be finished.

SR 9 REOPENED IN SKAGIT COUNTY Our crews were able to complete timber deck repairs on the SR 9 Lake Creek Bridge north of Lake McMurray nearly six days early. Both directions of SR 9 are now open.

UPDATE 9/24: Crews removed the damaged timber decking on an SR 9 bridge over Klein Ditch on Wed (9/23). Today they'll rebuild the decking. Remember SR 9 is closed between Nooksack & Nugents Corner (MP 87). Continue to add extra travel time and detour around the closure.

UPDATE 9/16: Crews have been busy restoring natural stream conditions along a tributary to Nookachamps Creek east of Mount Vernon after we installed a new fish-passable structure beneath SR 9 earlier this summer. We'll soon install permanent barrier over the culvert.

UPDATE 9/15: Crews have started applying the finishing coat to the east span of the SR 536 Skagit River/Division St Bridge in Mount Vernon. They're also continuing to inspect, repair and replace steel pieces of the bridge. We are still on track to finish up work in early 2027.

SR 20 UPDATE 9/3: We're getting really close! We completed temporary lane striping and are finishing installing temporary lighting today. On Fri (9/4) we'll raise the guardrail in the area and place mulch before we restore SR 20 at Campbell Lake Road to its usual configuration.

TAKE A PEAK Under our containment system, the SR 536 Skagit River Bridge in Mt Vernon is starting to look like new. Crews are busy blasting, inspecting & adding intermediate coats of paint to the east span. No EB traffic will be allowed through early 2027 while work finishes.

Maintenance alert 🚧 SR 20/North Cascades Highway will CLOSE in both directions over the Grandy Creek bridge (MP 82) west of Concrete from 6:30a-noon on Sunday for log jam removal. Russell Rd is an available local detour.
