The more I prompt, the more disconnected I can feel. AI isn’t the problem, but conceding your taste and insight is. It’s become harder to tell a shortcut to output from a shortcut to value.

“Taste is a practice you can develop and strengthen. It's a reflection of who you are.” — Rick Rubin

I shaped my design spec once so AI can scope forever. I give it a handful of seeds: problem, context, a rough direction. It returns structure I’d missed, questions I hadn’t asked, unexpected clarity. A well-shaped prompt lifts the floor and raises the ceiling.

It's only a matter of time before we grow tired of AI-generated content and yearn for pre-internet, physical experiences.

5 rules for creating with AI without losing your voice: 1. Don’t just prompt. Curate. 2. Study what resonates. Steal the structure. 3. Fewer, sharper drafts > more noise 4. Rewatch, re-read, re-listen to what shaped you. 5. If it doesn’t feel like you, start over

The faster it gets, the less it means. Volume and velocity are only part of the equation. To create work that holds weight, you need direction. You need a point of view. That’s what taste is for.

Chris Noringriis @noringriis.bsky.social · 04/08/2025
They say AI makes you faster. That’s not the point. I mapped AI into the design process to see more, not move more. It helps surface patterns, stretch edges, and clear space to listen. Not speed, but clarity.

4 ways I use music to sharpen creativity, focus, and thinking. Each is backed by science. Here’s what to play, and when:

We used to handle every design detail ourselves, every input, every decision. Now, we teach the process to lead machines.

The hidden cost of ignoring taste is AI workflows: Most people don’t notice when it happens. The prompts get faster. The drafts get smoother. The friction disappears. But so does the feeling that you made it. This brings us to:

3 ways AI helps me design deeper, not faster 1. Sorts raw input into patterns I can act on 2. Pushes past safe ideas with unexpected prompts 3. Simulates edge cases before I test them I still decide what stays, AI just expands my vision.

AI doesn't replace your systems. AI enhances and amplifies your system’s effectiveness. Without a structured workflows you have no leverage.

Chris Noringriis @noringriis.bsky.social · 28/07/2025
"Showing up" everyday doesn't necessarily mean you're making progress. Consistency without calibration creates waste. True leverage compounds only when consistency is paired with taste and feedback loops.

Chris Noringriis @noringriis.bsky.social · 25/07/2025
Compound Leverage = (Human Intent × AI Consistency)ⁿ You supply the clarity and vision. AI removes friction, maintains momentum, and documents progress. Over time, your identity and output converge.

Avoid piling on AI features that smother your product. Focus on your essential engagement loops and keep them aligned with your user's natural habit cycles. Skip unnecessary trends, layer engagement loops and keep users coming back for more.

Instinct said AI had no place in design strategy. It felt too cold. Too fast. Too removed. Empathy? Intuition? That felt sacred. Human. Untouchable. That belief kept me from seeing what was possible... #designsky

The Hack: → Using AI to churn out UX designs in hours. The Cost: → Generic outputs that miss what users truly need. The Alternative: → Plant the seeds. Let taste and constraints shape clarity.

Anyone can get 100 ideas from AI, but few can choose the right one. Instead, use AI: To listen To feel To decide To slow down.

Stop chasing AI growth hacks to ship faster. They promise speed but deliver shallow features and misaligned priorities. Build systems to uncover what your users truly need. Clarity, not chaos, drives sustainable growth. #designsky

Behind every elite designer’s decision is a mental model stack that ensures success: - It gets to the truth. - Ensures lasting impact. - Defends against failure. Here’s how you do it:

Designers, Worried AI is coming for your job? Refine your taste ASAP. 1. Save what moves you 2. Learn from the legends 3. Spot patterns 4. Polish your prompts 5. Refine like an artist, not a collector The speed of AI is worthless without a distinct style.

Figma Make kills pixel pushing. NOW designers can: - Solve real, user-facing problems - Focus on creating measurable value - Test and validate ideas early It’s the AI that finally gets the tool out of your way.

Before AI, the problem was too much work. Now, the problem is too many choices. The old bottleneck was craft. The new one is knowing what to ignore. What remains is what matters.

Designer, Be careful. A prompt that turns logos into rugs and gets 700+ likes? Sorry to pull the logo out from under you, but we have a problem. Image generation is getting shallow, loud, obnoxious. Real taste is subtle, substantial, and introspective. Protect it. Practice it. Prioritize.

Taste separates real creatives from prompt typers: • Save what resonates in @eagle_app. • Use ChatGPT to unpack why it works. • Spot patterns. Define qualities. • Shape your work until it reflects your voice. • Edit with obsession. Then, ritualise it.

Great designers defend against failure. The default is to go on the offensive and pursue what works. But you also have to defend what’s fragile, against edge cases, gaps, and user fatigue. Design isn’t just about building, it’s about protecting what you’ve built.

5 signs the AI is directing you: • You generate 20 options but pick the first • You rerun prompts instead of refining • You scroll endlessly, waiting for it to feel “right” • You ignore your creative voice • You forget to ask what you actually think Remember, you’re the director. Not the intern.

If I have to over-explain it, I haven’t clarified it. My idea isn’t too simple. My delivery is too complex.

You don't simply progress from trying harder, it comes from moving smarter: — Outcomes create momentum. Momentum reveals outcomes. — The best systems reduce decisions. The best decisions improve systems. — Speed isn’t about moving faster. Speed is about removing what’s slow.

Skeuomorphism taught users by mimicking the physical world, but it was too opinionated to scale. Now, intentional expressive design earns attention by not demanding it.

I can explain a design decision clearly. Teaching the thinking behind it is harder. The patterns, the thread from insight to solution, the quiet leaps my brain makes over time. I just haven’t found the right words for it yet.

Good design starts with clarity: What is undeniably true? Don't “add a toggle” because a user asked. Strip away opinions, bias, and assumptions. Then build your own truth, rooted in your product, your users, your context. #designsky #uxsky

I can’t rely on motivation alone: I use a personal playbook to document the habits, systems, and principles that work for me. It helps me flow while things keep moving around me.

We’ve treated mimicry as creativity for too long. Now that machines can do it, we’re debating ethics because it threatens us, the original mimics. What comes next requires deeper thinking. An intangible creativity that can’t be copied.

Activation isn’t fixed by adding steps. Miro removed the hardest one: no more blank boards, just templates to start mapping a roadmap. Skip the tours. Guide users to outcomes.
