I’ve started using oil pastels and I love it, such a great medium to experiment and play around with. Here is a frog study I did this week #oilpastel #study #frogs #art

A small oil pastel painting on 12x12 cm paper. A frog surrounded by lily pads sits with half its body submerged in water. The frogs head faces the left of the canvas and we view her from above at an angle. A blue reflection from the sky can be seen on the frog and surrounding water. Hints of red and yellow surround the many greens and hazes of blue. Made by Noomie

I haven’t been posting as much but I’m still busy painting!! Here is my most recent ala prima portrait study. I went with a very limited palette of yellow ochre, ultramarine blue and red cadmium. #oilpainting #study #portraitpainting #alaprima

A portrait of a young girl. Her head faces the left side of the canvas, the shadows are warm reds and yellows. Hair frames her face on both sides and the light hits her from the right. She looks down towards the ground. Painted in oils by Noomie

I’ve been trying to paint and draw from life more. This is a study in oils from earlier this month. I really need to get used to the light shifting while I work! #oilpainting #art #study

A painting of a skull with its face tilted towards the left. The skull itself is rendered the most on the face. The background remains more abstract. The skull is cantered in the middle of the canvas

Some more sketches/studies I worked on a couple weeks ago. Trying to work more from construction instead of observation #artgym #sketches

A small collection of drawings. Two heads, a rabbit, two hands, a horse and a cat

I’ve been working on more small thumbnail illustrations to get ideas flowing and this one is my favourite so far. Mix of acrylic and digital. I think I’ll try fleshing this one out more!

A small painted illustration of a person sitting on a floating rock. The head is obscured by a large hat. Clouds or fog can be seen behind him

Joined @kaseysnow.bsky.social on her #artgym stream to study snakes. It was fun!

Four sketches of snakes. One is a skeleton where only the head is rendered. Another is a full body snake. The third is a cobra and the fourth is that same cobra but with colour and value added

So I’ve been trying something new to help me do quick studies from imagination. I start by making abstract prints in acrylic and then try to imagine what I see. It’s an incredibly fun exercise and it’s a nice break from feeling the need to use reference all the time

An acrylic painting of a tree catching sunlight. Other trees surround it

A painting with a red background. A figure looks towards us. We see most of the body but the face is obscured by red.

A small landscape painting I made earlier this year. Oil on board. #art #landscape #oilpainting #artistsonbluesky #painting

An oil painting of a landscape made by Noomie. The painting is wider than it is tall. It shows a row of small, wooden houses on the left side in different colours, with tall grass in front of them. To the right we see a hint of a road. The sky is partly clouded and the sun is about to set but is still strong, making the sky a mixture of blue, yellows and purples. The house most in front is a bright blue. Behind it we see a reddish brown one, followed by pale green and yellow. More houses continue down the same line. The houses are simple. Square with a slanted roof to two sides. They have simple white window frames. The setting sun casts a shadow, the front of the houses are shaded and so is most of the grass. Close to the viewer we see a patch of white flowers. Part of them catch the sun. The others are shaded. The artist chose blueish hues for the shaded areas. The painting is based on colourful houses found in Denmark

Another study. I tried to give myself some freedom with the shapes but I’m not sure it really made a difference for the better. I get too conservative too fast. I have to practice that more. It was fun to use so many colours though #art #study #procreate Original photo by Ritesh Nangare Photography

This is a small painting I made from life. It’s one of the first things I painted after years of hardly being able to make anything. I am so happy to be painting again. My heart goes out to everyone who’s been unable to create because of what they’ve been facing.

Another piece from a while back. Acrylic on paper #art #abstract #acrylic

A small abstract painting made with acrylic paint. with colours of light blue, dark green and dark yellow. The colours have soft edges in some places, bleeding towards each other. In other places the edges are sharp.

Small gouache painting of a tree. Older work #art #gouache

A small painting on paper made with gouache. It features a tree standing in the middle fairly close to the viewer, with sunlight hitting it from the left. It stands between bushes and grass. There are a lot of greens, a bit of orange and hints of red.
