🌟💨 he is truly a timeless, unstoppable force in every universe. him being a librarian just came to mind because he likes to read. and then i thought more about it… like a cool and mysterious librarian with an adventurous repertoire.

🌟[personal headcanon]💨 adult sonic being a librarian hits so much more than it should. esp in au’s where he eventually is forced to slow down due to aging. it’s actually difficult to envision him as anything but a free-spirited wanderer. my inner-child is scolding my present-self haha 🤣

THANK YOU SO MUCH Lorenzo 😭💖💖💖 I greatly appreciate your take and insight! (Also hopefully my rambling below makes sense and definitely please feel free to ignore it it’s super long, nonessential 🤣)

To be completely honest the only real reason I made this comic was to have an excuse to use that line for Sonic where he says, “if I had to choose between the world and Amy, I would choose Amy”, because I personally feel that is SO in character for him. But I hadn’t given this project much forethought as I probably should have.

I didn’t even script it, just drew the panels and filled in the blanks (which I never do and would never recommend). Looking back, I can see a lot of places where I should have provided more context/explanation.

The overall idea (which also doesn’t come across well either in my opinion) is that all the reader needs to understand is that Sonic had a choice: the fate of the universe or sacrificing Amy, and he chose Amy. Amy is in distress trying to figure out why, not because she’s upset with the consequences of Sonic’s choice, but because:
- 1) as the one with the ability to foretell the outcome of events, I would like to imagine her skills in this regard are very well developed at this point in her life, and combined with her extensive knowledge and experience with Sonic (knowing him better than anyone else), she assumes she’ll always knows what he will do in any given situation and why. So I would imagine she would be in distress if she essentially read him wrong.
- 2) I like to write Modern Amy like this: after she’s spent so much of her youth in “delusions”, fantasies, and making every excuse to believe that Sonic loves her, that, now grown, she suppresses/makes every excuse to believe he does not reciprocate her feelings
- 3) Given that he is Sonic the Hedgehog, the type of person to follow his own path regardless of what others say or argue, in this instance, he listened to Shadow’s plan and didn’t pursue his own plan (because he loves her and didn’t want her to die), but Amy couldn’t believe he did so (one part because this was not what she had foreseen/assumed). Plus, all along, Sonic’s secret plan was never to put Amy at risk.
