I don't know much, but I love tech and getting myself in a mess with it. Was a Windows user since 3.1, now all in on Linux as Win11 just wasn't for me. Yes, my name is non-sensical, much like me. But I have fun!

Alright, 56 systems have been moved off @digitalocean.com along with our 2 replicated managed databases. I just can't support a company that chooses to sponsor someone that promotes such hate. I know my stuff is a drop in the bucket to them, but don't care. #OpenSource

@digitalocean.com Cancels $50 donated VMs for #OpenSource projects that matter and then donates millions to software made by someone who promotes #hate and is not necessary. Say good by to the 50+ systems, large managed databases, storage, and more my company hosts on your platform. #Linux

Solus is really the smoothest updating distro I have used, regardless of rolling or stable releases. I had more issues with Fedora and Linux Mint than I do with Solus regarding updates.

Sick of the overhyped Omarchy stuff. A "distro" that is just a themed Arch, making millions. I will stick with the non-hyped #Linux distro #Solus who manages their own packages, doesn't rely on other distros & gets by on $11k a year. #OpenSource opencollective.com/getsolus

Love to see this. As a 30+ user of Microsoft products and now born-again Linux nerd, I appreciate seeing devs take a proactive approach. I know it is not always easy or even feasible for larger projects, but it is good to see anything move from GitHub when they can. Plus I love Solseek on Solus!

People want to justify omarchy and worse, DHH, but hate is hate. I just cannot. To each their own, but for me, I will stay away from it. Yes, Linux and OpenSource need funding, but the source of that funding matters.

Maybe he should learn how to backup his great ideas and not leave everyone hanging. Guy has great ideas and I know he has personal shit he has to overcome, but he tends to throw in the towel and leave it to those who trusted him to pick up the pieces. That is NOT how you build a Linux distro.

In a week of seeing posts by Omarchy shills for a freaking hyperland theme, it is nice to see a distro where people actually create from top to bottom.

Not a shock when you have a maintainer that has long had issues actually testing code before pushing it out. I won't even get into the "other" issues with xlibre. Happy to see it get dumped.

One thing about moving from Windows to Linux is that you cannot expect it to be Windows. You have to be willing to change, as Linux is not the one that needs to. It can be frustrating up front, but it is so worth it. Take it from a not-so-technical old guy that has used only Windows since 3.1 days.

Cool to see a curated distro like #Solus add Tabularis, which is a young but good free & open-source SQL workbench-like tool. I don't use AI in my work, but the client itself has allowed me to stop using Navicat and they don't force AI use. Congrats to the @tabularis.bsky.social team.

Gnome is a nice desktop on Linux, but man, some of the leaders and devs have way too much ego and think a bit too high of themselves. They seem to think distros should bow to them. Contrast with KDE who is far more of a true community-based organization.

Over my year plus in Linux one fact I have come to learn is... You don't configure #Gnome, it configures you! LOL, it is a nice system, but missing even fundamentally basic settings without plugins just isn't for me. I gave it a month long try, but back to @kde.org #Linux #Desktop

Year plus since the switch from Windows to Linux. 6 months since I even started the Win VM I had as a crutch. Even having to use Office 365 for email / Teams for work has been smooth. Gaming is great for what I play. Regrets? Not switching sooner! 35 years of Windows 🤮 #Linux #Solus

For new to #Linux users with Nvidia. If you try #Solus, which is a great distro for new users, install solseek as it has a built-in Nvidia driver manager!! I am mainly an AMD guy, but have a Legion with a 4070. Discover/Gnome Software is painful for drivers. Solseek is much easier.

Ooh two of my favorites! I told @frame.work a while back they should sponsor Solus. Solus may be smaller, but they very much share the same DNA with how they view their users. Solus has the best community in Linux in my experience. BTW desktop looks nice and relaxing. Perfect for Solus.

You know one of the reasons I like Solus is that it is not a "hype" distro. It is a polished rolling distro that just works and has a great community. This is not saying anything bad about the distros hyped up by influencers. But It is not what makes a distro good! #Linux #OpenSource #Solus

I see too much misplaced anger over the age verification thing within the Linux & Opensource community. Focusing on devs that could lose everything if they are not cautious instead of the people making the laws themselves. Trying to help on a solution instead of tearing down people's hard work.

The only thing worse than Snap on Linux and the crazy mounts the cleanup after removing Snap from your system when you no longer need it for that one app. Never again. Distrobox, Flatpak, or AppImage for I even think about having to fall to the level of Snap. I don't care how "good" it is.

As a MS Slop convert, ppl like to assume I went Linux Mint or Ubuntu. I mention Solus, they are like what? It is simple. I tested them along with Arch, Fedora, others for a month each. Solus was as stable, rolling, and I liked the community and devs the best. I went with what worked best for me?
