My current black metal AOTY, and maybe my metal AOTY in general. It takes everything I loved about their sound and develops it further. This is the album that puts them on the same tier as Negative Plane. It’s only fitting that witching metal would be the best BM of the year lol

I need to add more Venom to my riffs until my music is just a Celtic Frost/Venom/Darkthrone blend with hints of Beherit and early Samael I feel like that’s the best way to pay respects to Cronos

You can tell the riffs come from someone who really knows what metal is; there’s a lot of Gothenburg and even some heavy metal in this album’s DNA. Really catchy stuff, especially when supported by stellar bass work. The leads are awesome too

New thread: good throwback black and death metal Throwback is a term I use to describe things like the OSDM revival wave; bands that try to sound like older styles in their genres. All albums included will be from the 00s onward, and no legacy bands like Immolation

Genuinely some of my favorite black metal ever. It speaks to me on a personal level. The riffs are so dramatic and atypical. Every song is so good. It sounds like a lost 90s Norwegian album

Hailz to 80s extreme metal: a thread The 1980s are recognized as the beginning of black metal and death metal, and while a lot of the most iconic records in those genres came out in the 90s, there are many gems worth hearing from the 80s. We’ll also talk about the extreme thrash of that era too

None So Tired @nonesotired.bsky.social · 23/08/2026

In the spirit of this post, I’ll give some examples of what I meant here. One like, one ACTUAL metal hot take. Real stuff, not just “I don’t like [thing]”

13120

None So Tired @nonesotired.bsky.social · 23/08/2026

The main issue I have with post-metal is that a lot of it is just drawing from existing post-rock and post-hardcore forms and adding “heaviness” rather than actually deconstructing the genre and moving into something new imo

Sometimes you just gotta Push a little harder on reality Take a Knife to the world Let the pieces Fall apart See beyond the veil and Observe how things really are Let’s take a look.

410

None So Tired @nonesotired.bsky.social · 19/08/2026

Lowkey the reason “hot takes” have grown off me as a concept is bc most of them are just “I don’t like [thing]” or some other taste-based statement. A proper hot take is based in more than just personal taste and can be discussed and defended in itself imo

The British bourgeoisie, for example, derives more profit from the many millions of the population of India and other colonies than from the British workers. In certain countries this provides the material and economic basis for infecting the proletariat with colonial chauvinism.

“Skill” vs “feel” is a fool’s dichotomy ngl. The two are absolutely capable of enhancing each other and in many of the best albums you find lots of both technical ability and soul in ample measure
