Critical Rationalist @noncynic.bsky.social · 2hThe KGB recognized early on that Trump is easily flattered, corrupt to the core, a pedophile, and in constant need of money. He was easy to capture as a Russian asset. Putin now owns the entire Trump family. Getting Trump elected was the most spectacularly successful KGB/SVR covert op in history. 180

Critical Rationalist @noncynic.bsky.social · 11/10/2026Well, I lived for five years in Germany, and soccer remains a total mystery to me. Entire games just back-and-forth, back-and-forth, running around with no or almost no score. A game is won by luck: a few split-second moments. Everything else is irrelevant. Plus I've never liked goalie games. 000

Critical Rationalist @noncynic.bsky.social · 05/10/2026Blah blah blah. Putin has boasted and threatened nukes so many times over the years I've lost count. He knows full well that Russia will cease to exist if he uses even tactical nukes. Britain, France, and China will see to that. 000
Critical Rationalist @noncynic.bsky.social · 03/10/2026Re: People thinking that *their* reality is THE reality: Ask an "I'm not racist" white person to envision a U.S. that's 70% Black/Latino/nonwhite and 30% white. Ask if that would bother them. If the reaction is, "So? We're all just people," great. But hemming and hawing = racist (in denial). 000

Critical Rationalist @noncynic.bsky.social · 02/10/2026Oh sure, but deregulation was far broader (and worse). To some extent deregulation can be beneficial, but capitalism, to be viable as an economic system, MUST be pretty strictly regulated - environmental, safety, wages, heathcare, etc. But the problem is, big money ALWAYS wants to deregulate. 010
Critical Rationalist @noncynic.bsky.social · 02/10/2026No, under Clinton, when the technology changed. - Cable overtook broadcast TV. Ailes realized that the FCC couldn't regulate cable, so Fox "News" became all-propaganda. - Everyone was distracted by the new thing called the internet. Clinton antitrust efforts focused on traditional industry. 110
Critical Rationalist @noncynic.bsky.social · 02/10/2026Ha. When you said "last century" I was thinking 19th Century. Showing my age. The antitrust laws got killed by big money in the Microsoft case, when the D.C. Circuit killed (on thin pretext) Judge Jackson's order that MS be broken up. I was incredulous. The Skydance merger is FAR worse. 020
Critical Rationalist @noncynic.bsky.social · 02/10/2026Hey LA, let's make a deal: - Speed cameras that only take photos of cars busting the speed limit -- ok - Cameras that are always on and that record plate numbers and other data about every vehicle that passes -- NEVER. - Dragnet-style surveillance, data matching, data sharing -- NEVER. 000
Critical Rationalist @noncynic.bsky.social · 02/10/2026Actually, the antitrust laws are there and have been for decades. They used to be enforced. Under Trump, they are for sale. 3220
