A couple weeks ago I did my first trip to the Boundary Waters. It was awesome and beautiful and kind of dangerous (storms and wind when I LEAST needed storms and wind) but I adjusted, feel like I made good decisions, and got out dry and with leftover food the place is a treasure, I am in love

This trip has been a heck of a roller coaster but I'm glad things are calming down up there and the residents can hopefully get back to a normal life soon My entry permit is for Ram Lake, then the plan is I exit at Bower Trout about a week later and just hoof it a couple miles back to my car

Pretty awesome to have the opportunity for a winter visit to most of my favorite places in the NE corner of Lake Monroe (Indiana) some more beautiful than others, but as their official self-appointed, non-local, Druid™️, I am contractually obligated to love them all equally my wife made it, too!🥰

A very large (maybe 6+ ft in diameter - I could walk through it easily) rusted pipe sits next to what I believe was the location of a road that used to lead to Elkinsville, IN

It now takes 50 minutes to get there even though it is only a few miles away (if a road directly there still existed).

there is a road here that looks like it has had trucks on it semi-recently but it was too flooded and sketchy for us to mess with, and also I'm pretty sure it eventually gets flooded out entirely on account of the reservoir that they dropped on top of it on the 1960's

Things I learned from my recent trip to the near north of Ontario: 1) being stuck on an island for several days due to cold and wind is still better than being at work 2) Walmarts on the Ontario/Quebec border are EXACTLY what you'd expect 3) Canadians really are generally the nicest dang folks
