It was! He seemed very content there. I named him Ichabod. By mid-June it got pretty warm and he didn't return. Probably headed up into the cooler elevations. This was about 40 miles south of Yosemite NP.

A few years ago I was living in an RV park in the Sierra foothills and a bat took up residence on the side of my motorhome between the window and the window covering. He left every day at exactly 15 minutes past sunset and returned sometime overnight. A literal window on wildlife.

I once went with my employee (very hard working guy) to an immigration meeting. Just before he went in he handed me a large wad of cash and said to take care of his wife if he didn't come out. He had earned it by doing yard work on the weekends. Luckily he did come out. I'll never forget that.
