huge number of people i thought were deserving of my respect are showing their true colors with how theyre responding to the geller apologia article. one or two progressive buzzwords used to cover for a monster and suddenly, something as simple as doubt is equal to carceral, state violence

my biggest takeaway from control resonant thus far is that matthew porretta deserves all the praise in the world. without saying too much, we're shown dr. darling in a different, less silly light in this game as compared to the first, and i think he really shines in that new light.

reached a section in control resonant this evening that made me deeply emotional in a way that not even my favorite of their games (AW2) managed to. what an incredible work of art so far, excited to delve in more this weekend

i dont talk about music on here half as much as i should but i think that if you haven't listened to promises by floating points, pharoah sanders, and the london symphony orchestra, you owe it to yourself to listen to it end to end RIGHT NOW!!!!!!!!!! one of the most beautiful albums ever IMO

Bahamut Fayth: You're gay. Tidus: What are you talking about? Bahamut Fayth: Everyone in Zanarkand is gay. Tidus: I literally like women??? Bahamut Fayth: You can like women if you're gay. It's called Bisexuality. Narrator Tidus: I had forgotten about Bisexuality.

look, im sure fire emblem fortune's weave is fun and all, but i just don't believe that any game which breaches 100 hours of playtime on average can be cohesive thematically. in most instances, lengthy run-times don't expand a narrative's themes, but instead dilutes them.

i feel like a bit of a curmudgeon for not liking lanterns that much but i feel like the show has been really spinning its wheels in regards to its narrative and its characters, and that it has somehow continually muddied its own thematic waters more and more with each passing episode.

i think instead of playing wolverine, people should go play the shockingly good guardians of the galaxy game

"do you guys remember what the last half of ff7 was? the environmentalism gets dropped..." oh you mean the back half where we take on sephiroth, made into a puppet by an entity deadset on consuming the planet's life force to enrich itself?

i can't even really explain or put into words how furious this makes me. ff7 is one of my favorite games ever and an incredibly rich text thematically. and yet this idiot's best analysis is that it's about "the cycle of life." really? that's the best you've got? no wonder the remakes are spineless

picked up a free epub of the mrbeast book and read some of it last night out of morbid, masochistic curiosity. wholeheartedly one of the most terrible things ive ever read. extremely funny. there's a scene where the contestants are swimming through shark-infested waters and suddenly mrbeast is there

i can entirely understand how someone could hate mgs4 and i dont disagree with a lot of the criticisms but it has always been my favorite mgs game for reasons i cant entirely quantify. it's probably (IMO) the last good game kojima ever made. so happy to see it freed from the PS3 at long last

about 5-6 hours into big walk with my group of friends, and i think ive rarely seen such a well-oiled machine of a game. every system and mechanic is in lockstep with the core theses of the game: walkin' and talkin'. everything exists to ground you in its world, and in the journey with your friends

i guess marvel decided to finally make a Real Ass Movie again because damn was brand new day great. ive really hated basically everything to come out of the franchise besides wonder man of late, but they managed to make something good again!!!! cried multiple times 🫡

nearly every frame of that neuromancer trailer was awful???? extremely flat lighting, bland cinematography. one of my first ever writing projects when i was in high school was a (very bad) spec script for a neuromancer show, so i really want the show to be good, but... MAN it looks ugly

i think anyone having a laugh at this bc "what goes around comes around" for what was done to kurvitz and co. is a fucking ghoul. regardless of your opinion on ZA/UM or zero parades, this is awful. i hope everyone affected is able to land on their feet.

one of the most phenomenal runs i've ever seen at GDQ, tied with the fallout anthology speedrun and the elden ring bingo speedrun. pure, unrelenting magic from end to end, i was on the edge of my seat in the back half.

i wasnt excited for edgerunners 2 until i saw this, and it prompted me to do a rewatch of city of god. one of the most masterful films ever made. expertly crafted in every department. if edgerunners 2 achieves even 10% of city of god's greatness, i think i will enjoy it very, very much.

i havent seen supergirl yet but i emphatically doubt it's the Worst Film Ever Made like many bad faith idiots are saying. that being said, it's a shame to see my favorite supergirl story so utterly fumbled for a big screen adaptation. even from the trailers, it felt nothing like woman of tomorrow

with how much the ff7 remake series borrows from ff8, i think they should fully commit and abandon one-winged angel in favor of setting the final boss fight to the extreme (aka ff's best final boss theme). does it make sense? not really, but that's a running theme in the remake trilogy.

sighing as i boot up xenoblade 3 for another playthrough because of the "tales of arise backtracking on its revolutionary ideals" into "reestablishing the hereditary monarchy in metaphor refantazio" bad politics true combo i've just experienced.

disclosure day may be one of the worst films ive ever seen. it tries to be optimistic and ends up coming across profoundly naive about the world its trying to be analogous for. spielberg says that all we need to save the world is to be nice to each other, including to tech CEOs.

thinking about jake steinberg's excellent xenoblade essay again as 2 hour long analysis videos about genesis's 2 minute long teaser pop up in my recommended questioning/analyzing how the game connects to xenoblade 1-3. the lore is thickening. bright green light = pneuma. mythra confirmed for genesis

i've seen some talk around xenoblade genesis about how the game doesn't look like a xenoblade game. it sort of puzzles me because more than the sci-fantasy aesthetic, i think what defines a xenoblade game is its themes, which i'm already seeing traces of from a trailer alone.

it's weird to see "zero parades is too horny" thrown around as a critique considering how fascinating the game's conversations about sexuality, desire, and loneliness end up being (especially as explored through hershel and duchess). also it gave us the interrogatrix scene so what is there to hate?

noelle @noevella.bsky.social · 08/06/2026
i really need the lyrics to "cover the moon when i'm gone" for zero parades.... i'm hoping i didn't miss them somewhere in the game. maybe i'm the target for luzian propaganda because the song bangs

thinking about ff7 revelation has got me mulling over a refrain i often hear surrounding the first remake specifically: that it was good, that its expansion on midgar was a welcome inclusion, that midgar NEEDED expansion. i can sympathize with this stance but i have to top-to-bottom disagree with it

noelle @noevella.bsky.social · 06/06/2026
i dont understand the logistics behind adding a job system to ff7 beyond it being a further indicator of the remake trilogy's dedication to excess at every turn, often to the detriment of its mechanics and its narrative

i've rolled credits on zero parades. it's a game i went into with the intention of being able to make a more informed critique, and the experience i got out of it was not the one that i expected. weaker than disco in some areas, leagues stronger in others, i thoroughly enjoyed my time in portofiro.

even if this is just about publishing, it's going to be a shame to see this version of bond fall fully into amazon's grasp. i really appreciated how totally and uncompromisingly anti-AI its narrative was, and i could see that being hollowed out by creative meddling on the part of amazon in a sequel

the dialogue, pacing, and overall storytelling throughout that 20 minute god of war showcase was absolutely abysmal. i think if that's how the game actually opens, it's an incredibly poor first impression

absolutely loved my time with 007 first light. a perfect blend of hitman's classic stealth game sensibilities mixed with bombastic action setpieces. one of the most viscerally fun combat systems i've played with in quite some time. kickass lana del rey opening title sequence. highly recommended!!!

having just finished FFX once again, i would love to hear from people why this game sits so near and dear to their hearts. i think it's good, not great. it's one of those things where i feel left out, where i want to experience the FFX that everyone else did. maybe i'm just a grouch? who knows.

replaying ff9 might be the thing to finally get me to make a blog to post lengthy analysis essays on because i find its exploration of finding purpose beyond one's assigned role and how it relates to the recurring motifs about plays, the stage, and artifice to be absolutely fascinating.

great essay from one of the people who helped to cement my love of xenoblade when i watched his series on the first game after having just finished it for the first time myself. an excellent dissection of all the problems that haunt xenoblade 2, even in its finest moments.

all my fondest memories of this game are the ones i've shared with other people, whether it's one of us playing it for the other, or talking about it together. like a communion, i think it is a work of art to be shared, and to enjoy it in the presence of others is to see the art enriched in turn.

despite having some complaints about it (some of which reflect my complaints with its predecessor), it's remarkable what a jump in quality the story of dragon age 2 is from origins, and how its cast of characters is almost universally richer and more textured.

im slightly worried that evercold will be a thematic retreading of shadowbringers, not helped by the amaurot theme at the start of the trailer and the narrator saying that "men succumbed to their sorrow" when the frost came. it's just a little bit concerning. i love ShB but please do new stuff

maybe dark fantasy just isn't for me but playing dragon age is like watching an MCU film where one side of the conflict is doing too much progressive stuff or is too sympathetic so the writers have them launch ICBMs at orphanages just so you dont get too cozy with them

there's a lot of interesting stuff going on in the Prove You're Human trailer!! like the robots wearing torn work clothes, pantomiming humanity but unable to completely hide beneath the facade. or the fact that during their corruption, we see a face on the monitor! maybe they're remote controlled!!

the work being done at sunset visitor inspires me so much. i look back to 1000xRESIST, or ahead to Prove You're Human, and aspire to create something even a fraction as meaningful. it makes me want to write games, even, and i dont know how to do that!! what an incredible studio. i'm there day one.
