Granted my HS band director one year got some guitar dude he knew to perform with us on We Will Rock You for a senior night basketball game. We faded out on the instrumental near the end and let guitar guy rip with this cool solo as a surprise for the people at the game.

We also played I Get Around and Barbara Ann in my HS pep band lol. I think Yeah and The Hand That Feeds were both the result of our band director having a "if you can find affordable sheet music I will get this for us for basketball games" moment.

We ALSO played The Hand That Feeds in pep band.

Abusive dude who dated Rihanna aside, the last time I think I consistently heard a crowd getting into Yeah, I was in HS and we were playing it in pep band. I am in my early 30s.

Personal opinion, I don't care. He probably should've voted but I feel like he's one of those celebs who generally uses his platform for good. I think everyone should vote, yes, I also don't think a famous person sitting out an election is a cancelable offense.

My mom did wrap my birthday stuff in Christmas wrapping paper but that never bothered me & prob made it easier to hide everything b/c it just went under the tree & I knew better than to look too close for my stuff. We'd put presents for other fam there too then take it to them when we had a chance.

Not often if ever! Note: only child. Also parents had been divorced basically my whole life. Upside when buying myself something fun as an adult as my birthday gift to me is I can usually get it on sale b/c holidays.

I usually had gifts coming earlier in the month from relatives who lived further away. I'm an only child so also didn't have siblings to be fully aware of anything I missed out on. I kind of always viewed the whole month of December as one big celebration.

One year in HS I had Algebra finals for the semester on my birthday. 0/10 do not recommend. Midwest, USA, elementary school was very late '90s through early '00s, junior high mid-00s, HS late '00s/early '10s, younger millennial.

I don't think it was uncommon generally I just don't think my school did it much. Or maybe my classmates mostly had summer birthdays. My birthday being as far into December as it was, I usually had school but it was w/in the last few days before we went on break ahead of Christmas.

And as a kid of the '90s and early '00s I don't remember bringing cupcakes for the entire class being as much of a thing at school. Maybe once in a while it happened? But it wasn't a norm at least where I grew up. (When I say my birthday is close to Christmas it's usually within the same week.)

I never thought about this b/c I don't have or want kids but also my birthday is close enough to Christmas that I didn't really do a giant party (introverted & don't like parties much anyway, so having a birthday during a season when people usually have plans was fine by me.)

Started following the Valks because of Temi Fagbenle, have watched them when I can during the regular season but thanks to time zones it ain't easy. So happy to see them making a deeper playoff run! Just good, fun basketball.

The thought hit me today that rather than everyone assuming the worst about all Fever fans it'd be nice if we could all, I dunno, unite against specifically the toxic fans and somehow start demanding the league change/create policies addressing fan behavior at games but it'll never happen.
