There’s the player & there’s coaching. I don’t rate Kerkez in his ability on the ball & football intelligence but it’s not always the full back over/underlapping, if Arsenal & City are the reference. They have 3 or even 4 players forming a rotating triangle/diamond. We don’t even do that.

One thing I need to see developing as the season unfolds is our movement & patterns when we have the ball out wide. Arsenal & City are really good at that, & it’d always result in one of them moving behind the def line & in a threatening position. I’ve yet to see that from us, not enough anyway.

I don’t disagree on the principle but I did consider that the boys are still learning Iraola’s system so perhaps the less changes structurally the less risky. Otherwise your suggestion could also be a box (2+2) with Szobo & Wirtz in the forward 2 & also responsible for attacking the box.
