I had the great honor of presenting my work on the 18th-century Enlightenment book trade to Joel Mokyr, whose work has been a major inspiration for my own, at the ASREC Europe Conference in Venice. A very inspiring conference with great researchers in a magical city!

I had the opportunity to present my work on the gender wealth gap and French customary law at the “Dynamics of Inequality Workshop” at Università di Firenze. What a great initiative bringing together economic historians and economists!

@noahsutter.bsky.social spends his Christmas break reading "Midaq Alley". Naguib Mahfouz describes the (economic) life in an eponymous Cairo back street, teeming with barbers, innkeepers, businessmen, dentists etc., at the threshold to a new modern era. (10/10)

Once again, our department's PhD students met for the annual Book Secret Santa. Our students have proven that their reading tastes cover a wide range of genres, periods, and topics... Many of them feature a connection to economic history and economic themes. Let's dive in! (1/10)

Very honoured to have been interviewed by the London School of Economics and Political Science about my research. I talk about the big questions that motivate me and the joys of finding treasures in archives. Big thanks to LSE! www.lse.ac.uk/research/res...

I‘ve just returned from 2.5 amazing months as a visiting PhD student at the Paris School of Economics. I am endlessly grateful to PSE for hosting me. I had inspiring conversations, met my academic heroes, and left with a head full of new ideas. What an amazing school!
