When I was in college, we had what was referred to as “Book Club Majors.” They often refused to engage with texts past saying things like “well, this character annoyed me” and would cast off whole books bc of that. It is healthy as a Vorthos to understand a lot of Magic fans are like this too.

Thinking about Reality Fracture which means thinking about Hexhaven which means thinking about Strixhaven which means thinking about Spirits Here’s an alter of my favorite token from SOS I did recently 🧡

A Spirit token from Secrets of Strixhaven with a statue spirit that resembles a giant antlered deer. The alter uses a white highlight to frame the deer, and there is an orange line pattern added behind it on half the card.

Tomik Vrona was born to be a lawmage. Raised by Orzhov advokists (who continued to raise him after their untimely deaths), he was comfortable with both spirits and laws from a very young age.
It's no surprise that he shot through the ranks of the Orzhov Syndicate until he served as Teysa's second in command.
Tomik is known for his specialties in contract work, his use of gargoyles, and his incredible ability to forge diplomatic ties between the guilds.
But none of these are as strong as his bond with Ral Zarek, his husband.
Having helped Ral rebuild the Izzet League after the Phyrexian Invasion, Tomik now solidifies his husband's return eagerly.

It's said that when Tomik was born, the Vrona household exploded into a shower of sparks.
That's apocryphal—probably-but many Izzet do believe it. And for good reason: Tomik is about as talented as a sparkmage can be.
Tomik spent his childhood exploding his parents' experiments for fun. He ascended the ranks of the Izzet in a snap. Some say this is thanks to the machinations of his husband, Ral, a noted Orzhov advokist and propagandist-but both men strenuously deny the allegation.
Tomik hasn't seen his husband since Ral departed Ravnica on important business. Unfortunately, Ral is one of the only people who can mellow Tomik's considerable temper. The Izzet hope he returns before Tomik, in frustration, levels the guildhall.
