That adorable and indirectly really reinforces George Carlin's point

Nothing has actually cemented ACAB to me as much as true crime. Especially when you see how often cops did fuck all to investigate crimes when the victim was a POC, LGBTQ, or a sex worker.

Well I've never felt more validated by an art book. How to Draw by Scott Robertson is recommended by like everyone for improving perspective and it actually recommends using 3d to create perspective grid underlays because doing it by hand is really hard.

What did that poor groundhog do to be compared to Jill Stein?

You certainly don't need to look into it but the reason is fucking hilarious.

It also assumes that all the mass produced chocolate in the US is Hersheys or Nestle milk chocolate which isn't at all the case.

The little countertop dishwasher I bought a couple years ago has been one of the best presents to myself ever.

More like "did exactly what we told it to do". Every single one of these stories starts with the fact the LLM was instructed to do it.

Sure is. My coffee table was clear earlier today. It's not anymore.

Fine arts has always been the realm of the absolute worst art snobs and gatekeepers. I still laugh thinking about how they must have lost their minds when Rockwell started becoming accepted as a significant 20th century artist and not just an illustrator.

Bored and I want to draw but my hand hurts so instead I designed and 3d printed some stencils at common aspect ratios to use for thumbnailing. These are all 2.5 inches on the long side.

$3/lb at my local grocery store for soup bones (I just checked their website). One reason I haven't made beef stock recently.

They would have to know what that phrase means first

I've had this book on my wishlist for years but it was always so pricey. Finally snagged a copy. I'm such a huge fan of Guillermo del Toro and I love seeing how other creative people think and plan.

Hey fellow #artists I'm on a quest to improve some areas that I'm really weak in. I have books covering perspective and environments either on my shelf or on the way. What I'm lacking are books on animals and creature design, any recommendations?

I'm not sure anyone would be able to tell with me, I already hoard shiny things and art supplies

The deer skull photo worked a lot better. The milkweed just didn't have enough contrast even after editing the photo.

Noadi @noadi.bsky.social · 11/09/2026

I ordered all the supplies for cyanotype printing right before everything fell apart last month. Finally getting around to doing it. These are just to play around and learn. Used a photo of a deer skull and some dried milkweed pods that I took and printed them inverted on transparency film.

The last few weeks have been so difficult and painful. And I know I haven't coped very well.

Starting to maybe feel like myself again. I'm not crying every day at least. There's still this knot of pain when I think of my friend, it's not fair that she's gone. She was too young.

One of the downsides of running a fairly large LARP-style game (it's run online so not exactly live) is that sometimes players make choices that lead to PvP and while I try to discourage it as much as possible it's sometimes unavoidable. This just happened and it sucks.

My whole apartment smells like split pea soup and I have "peas porridge hot, peas porridge cold, peas porridge in the pot nine days old" on loop in my head. I also have some nice crusty bread that will complete my medieval peasant dinner tonight.

I give it a year before she starts railing against women's sports in general and calling to repeal Title IX

No, I'm starting to eat more than occasional toast again. Other people eat comfort food when they're sad, I just lose my appetites

Lasagna is in the oven so at least I have no excuse to not have proper food the next couple days too.

It took me until 830pm to start dinner but at least I started it. I haven't been eating properly the past couple weeks, and I know that no matter how sad I am I can't keep not eating.

Personally I blame @tkingfisher.com but I did make the mistake of sharing the dedication page for What Feasts at Night in a chat. The players are used to our shenanigans though.

Exactly I was never a Harry Potter fan but that's not because I somehow had better taste than fans did. I was just already in highschool when the first book came out and not interested in a book for kids. Being 15 and not wanting to read books for 10 years olds isn't a morally superior position

Add another thing to the list of things I agree with the Catholic Church on. It's not a very long list but it's a pretty good one.
