Their previous (current?) location is west Lincoln Park if I remember correctly. I think they had 2 or 3 locations and I think the goal of their new Humboldt Park spot is to try to consolidate to one location.

Is one tail at a time an option? Not sure if their new facility in Humboldt park is open yet, but it is near Augusta and Homan from what I remember.

I get that there is likely a drainage condition or issue at each location that is unique and could be costly, but it makes me wonder if doing raised crosswalks would be more cost-effective, not to mention the traffic-calming impacts.

UIC historically sucks. They plow their sidewalks into the bike lane every winter and clog the drains with leaves so the bike lanes flood. They let students park all over the bike lanes. About 6 weeks ago, there was horse shit in the halsted bike lane for over a week.

I will never understand the SW side residents protesting the Archer protected bike lanes at the same time all these drivers are hitting cyclists and people on scooters. It feels like all these hit and runs all over the city have been more prevalent so far this year, too.

I had a GC who started doing development work ask me for a proposal in 2024 to do a deconversion of a 2-flat west of ravenswood. Different situation, in 2008 experienced a couple projects off MLK around 44th where originally a mansion was converted to a multi unit building and then back to mansion.

I noticed last week that when adding money to the Clipper card you have to hold the card to the sensor a ridiculously long time. They even have signs on all the machines, so it is clearly a system-wide issue.

Me too, I loved memorizing their stats. When the league expanded for the Rockies and marlins, I made my own rosters with a fake draft. I was a 9 year old with a Baseball Weekly subscription.

I saw it as a happy medium between site built construction and prefab, offsite or modular construction. Probably leads to happier and more productive contractors, as well as increased job site safety.

I saw the exterior of those when I was there in May, both the Maersk and Nordhavn apartments. At first I thought they were just enclosures for remediation work but then I realized they were building entire buildings inside, which I am sure is worth the cost, especially in colder climates.

First time I ever walked over a bridge that had noise control was two years ago in Tokyo and it was amazing. Much more pleasant experience compared to the bridges in New York, or waiting for the Blue or Red Lines in Chicago when they are in the expressway median.
Pedestrian path on a bridge in Tokyo next to car traffic lanes with clear glass noise barriers separating them.

I feel like @briancgrubb.bsky.social needs to know about this photographer’s name.

I put together a sketch a year or two ago of what could be done if redeveloping an entire block and reclaiming/changing the alley. Front and back clusters of buildings.

Idles is easily one of my favorite bands from the last 5-6 years. Amyl and the Sniffers is another.

How much time do you think has been wasted? I have seen postings about it over the last number of months but definitely don’t have a pulse on the exact timeline. Would be interested to understand the financial impact on the development, too. Design fees, developer fees, construction cost escalation…

I found reading your stuff in The Reader to be very informative of what was out there, but also finding out about @wejazz.bsky.social when I was in Helsinki in 2017 has opened me up to so many artists out there.

I love the 7 train. Rode it a few times a couple weeks ago and have rode it a ton in the past since I have stayed in Long Island City often over the years.

I saw this last weekend and immediately thought @briancgrubb.bsky.social needed to be made aware of it, mostly for the heist aspect.

Is that building near Vienna’s transit museum? It looks familiar but I noticed when I was there in April that there was a lot of text on buildings in general.

It is multiple buildings. Renovation of some existing, as well as new construction. It needed to be that tall to clear all the surrounding redwood trees.

I figured @stephenjacobsmith.bsky.social would appreciate the fact that the GC managed to elect a crane on UC Santa Cruz’s campus for the Kresge College expansion. The crane is supposed to be operational starting today according to the guy manning the gate on Friday.

Every time I have been to San Francisco this year I have walked around the base and what I could see from outside in the lobby looks very nice. Interested to see what else has transpired inside elsewhere.

Hi @darthbluesky.bsky.social welcome back! Started a project this week with Chicago Canine Rescue and Diego and Lila said “hi.” They have lots of good pups looking for homes or foster homes.
