I did a little hard drive digging. The Pinker essay is in 2007: "What is Your Dangerous Idea?" Pinker also wrote the introduction which is kind of a "he was always like this" thing. Then a Wayback capture from 2012 of the article on Edge but his name removed. Later captures lack the whole article.
Title page of "What is your Dangerous Idea: Today's Leading Thinkers on the Unthinkable" Edited by John Borckman with an introduction by Steven Pinker and an Afterward by Richard DawkinsIntroduction by Pinker, going on about a number of early 2000s edgelord just-asking-questions that only real scientists can askPinker's "Dangerous Question" essay, titled "Groups of People May Differ Genetically in their Average Talents and Temperaments". It begins with a defense of Lawrence Summers and proceeds from thereInternet Archive Screencap from January 2012 showing the essay still on Edge.Org but Pinker's name and profile photo have been removed from it.

Claude Code default output
When given a generic prompt like "make a modern dashboard" or "build a landing page" without strict brand guidelines, Claude Code defaults to a highly predictable, overly-polished distribution:The Palette: Heavy reliance on purple-to-blue gradients overlaid on crisp white or near-black backgrounds.Typography: Absolute over-reliance on Inter, Roboto, or standard system sans-serif font stacks.Component Styling: A predictable grid of glowing glassmorphism cards, rounded tag badges (e.g., rounded-full bg-slate-100 px-3 py-1), multi-layered card shadows (shadow-md or shadow-lg), and perfectly uniform card layouts.Over-done Micro-interactions: Every single card has a hover:scale-105 or transition-all duration-300 effect, and every text block slides up on scroll.

Despite what I said above, and acknowledging the conventions of 19th century photographs, if you showed me this portrait taken when Eakins was about 40 I'd have to admit that it depicts a man somewhat more off-putting than a commission-seeking artist would normally present himself.
black and white portrait photograph of Eakins, a middle-aged man in a suit looking off to one side with a glowering expression on his shadowed face, not atypical of late-19th century portraits, but nevertheless not offering an appealing impression of someone you'd go to, to commission a painting.

“Disaster is rarely as pervasive as it seems from recorded accounts. The fact of being on the record makes it appear continuous and ubiquitous whereas it is more likely to have been sporadic both in time and place. Besides, persistence of the normal is usually greater than the effect of disturbance, as we know from our own times. After absorbing the news of today, one expects to face a world consisting entirely of strikes, crimes, power failures, broken water mains, stalled trains, school shutdowns, muggers, drug addicts, neo-Nazis, and rapists. The fact is that one can come home in the evening—on a lucky day—without having encountered more than one or two of these phenomena.”
 -- Barbara Tuchman, 1978
