Over 1,200 people have been killed in Iran since Israel and the US launched its illegal attacks. Leaders may frame strikes as "defensive", but human beings will grieve all the same. Starmer is dragging Britain into a catastrophic war. It is other people who will pay the price.

History will judge this government very harshly for its cruel and inhumane treatment of asylum seekers.

Congratulations to @zohrankmamdani.bsky.social! You ignited a grassroots campaign, built on the radical idea that everyone deserves to live in dignity. This is a seismic victory — not only for the people of New York, but for all those who believe that humanity & hope can prevail.

4.5 million children are living in poverty. Our climate is burning. Palestinians are being erased in a genocide. Up and down the country, people are demanding real change. None of us will ever give up in our common struggle for a more equal, sustainable and peaceful world.

It’s official. I will be introducing a Bill for an independent public inquiry into the UK’s involvement in Israel’s assault on Gaza. The government must decide: will it support this inquiry, or will it block our efforts to establish the truth?
Text of a Ten-Minute-Rule Bill calling for an inquiry.

Today, we pay tribute to Pope Francis. He welcomed refugees & the homeless where others turned their backs. He called for peace — in Gaza, Ukraine, Sudan, the DRC & beyond — where others cheered for war. His humanity is an inspiration to us all, and he will be greatly missed.

Israel has chosen to mark the first days of Ramadan by blocking humanitarian aid to Gaza. Still, our government refuses to implement sanctions and defend international law. There is no other way of putting it: this is a resumption of genocide — and our government is complicit.

Guns Before Butter
Running a government where starving children and freezing pensioners is the price to pay for funding endless wars, Keir Starmer's only legacy will be a more dangerous and unequal world.

Today, thousands of us demonstrated outside the US embassy with a message for Donald Trump: hands off Gaza. The resilience of the Palestinian people will not be broken — and nor will our solidarity. We will be here for as long as it takes until there is a free and independent Palestine.

The government is still refusing to answer our questions about its definition of genocide, the legal advice it has received, and the use of RAF Akrotiri. What does the government have to hide?

There is no more important challenge than the climate emergency. That is why I will vote against Heathrow expansion. Climate campaigners have defeated this before — and we will fight back again.

Fascism doesn’t arrive in uniform overnight. It arrives with suited politicians, one piece of legislation — or executive order — at a time. My piece for @tribunemagazine.bsky.social to mark Holocaust Memorial Day. tribunemag.co.uk/2025/01/jere...

We must learn the full scale of the horrors that have been committed. We must uncover the truth about the UK’s complicity in genocide. And we must continue to demand the only path to a just and lasting peace: an end to the occupation of Palestine. [2/2]

The violence against Palestinians in the West Bank is a reminder that genocide, ethnic cleansing and apartheid have not ended. We will never stop opposing the occupation of Palestine because we believe in a simple and moral truth: every human being deserves to live in freedom.

21 years ago, British journalist Tom Hurndall died after spending 9 months in a coma. Tom was carrying a Palestinian child out of range of Israeli army gunfire when he was shot in the head. We will never forget him, nor his vision of a free and independent Palestine.
