One reason is because supermarkets sell it for about €20 cheaper than the ps store. Along with all other big releases. Crazy to buy them digitally if can get physical. Cost alone!

Unsolved mysteries. From Robert Stacks voice to the creepiest intro ever, this one still sends chills up my spine. Not to mention, they're all unsolved. So those little green alien bustard tapping on windows are still out there!!

I never buy games on amazon, for that reason. Always seem to deliver late. I get them from local supermarket, which are often even cheaper. As they expect you to buy extra stuff at the same time (which i inevitably do!)

Nick McElroy @nmcelroy.bsky.social · 26/06/2026
But again, the idea of a catalogue of games to play like dvds is fanciful. Its not based on reality and hasn't been for almost 20 years. Yes, it shouldn't be, but we also shouldn't have billionaires. To expect consumers to fight back is not based in reality. But they should at least shop around!

100% agree that gamers are lazy. I've always been against the digital stores (xbox and ps store) because of cost. Buying the games physically at a local supermarket is often 10-20 euros cheaper every time.

Nick McElroy @nmcelroy.bsky.social · 26/06/2026
This idea of keeping a physical catalogue of games on a shelf to pick and play like its 2001 is absurd. It doesn't exist anymore and hasn't for this generation and alot of last generation. So the best you can do is buy smart and buy cheap

Nick McElroy @nmcelroy.bsky.social · 26/06/2026
I understand the core point. But remember, most discs this generation do not contain the game or exe on the disc. They are just physical versions of this code. You can't play the game without a server call. So in the end, again, what's the difference?

Doesn't this happen if you buy it digitally from the ps store? And if so, what options do consumers have? Not buy it?
100
Nick McElroy @nmcelroy.bsky.social · 25/06/2026
Its still cheaper than the ps5 store digital version. So buy the 'physical' version
120
Nick McElroy @nmcelroy.bsky.social · 25/06/2026
And the options are what exactly? Pay more on the ps store? Also note that the ps store price is £70! So that's £50. So buying ps store is £20 more. You lot promoting the digital version are insane and not very savvy.

My favourite games released in 2025. 1.Arc raiders - exceptional gameplay, sense of fear and immersive moments that are unparalleled 2.KcD 2 - amazing story telling and sense of agency 3.Expedition 33 - worth the hype 4.Death stranding 2 - soo many cool touches 5.Absolum - very satisfying!

As someone who has now made a good career in systems and processes, I like to think my 40 years of experience in video games rules has somehow crafted this. They are good! Strangely, similar parameters and rules exist in real life..

Its a mess. Felt like it was rushed, a hodge podge of different shots, poor audio choices and generated little excitement. Made me think what's the point of a 3rd film. It said nothing

Its simpler than that and probably not as spiteful. Its just about money. What's the biggest expense all companies have? Salaries. Has there ever been a way to reduce this without impacting the product? No. Now there is (at least they think so..)

Good summary of dragons dogma. One point missed imo was the repetition. While the nature of the open world and awesome randomness is unparalleled, I got tired of the same enemy groups and types. even though it's a sequel, it *still* feels like a tech demo..
