Honoured to attend the 9th WOHC in Lisbon last week and hear from people shaping the One Health agenda today. It was inspiring to learn about the research and action taking place around the world to address One Health challenges and the international collaborations making it possible.

It's International Day of Women and Girls in Science! Women account for only 35% of STEM graduates despite more women enrolling in higher education than men (UNESCO 2025). There's progress to be made, but take the time to recognise some amazing women who have contributed to science over the years.

Vaccination uptake in the USA has been dropping since 2019, with some areas reporting uptake rates of less than 80% for MMR. Coincidentally, the USA is also seeing its highest number of measles cases since 1992 after 20 yrs of measle free status. 92% of cases have been unvaccinated/unknown status.

Incredibly grateful to the team at ESCAIDE for the opportunity to present our work on rodent-borne diseases in Madagascar. Thanks to the wonderful audience at our session, it's been fantastic hearing everyone's insights and about their research!

After a long pause, I've just done another England Covid & NHS update as we head into the autumn/winter season. TLDR: we're in a significant Covid wave now, the NHS is stretched, get boosted if you're eligible. christinapagel.substack.com/p/england-is...
