Most of the more egregiously offensive Jewish stereotypes (especially physical) have migrated over to Arabs in the 21st century. I'm not surprised the vague idea of international Islam...ry picks up the torch.

Best I got is halibut mermaid
A mermaid sprawled forward on her webbed hands. Her body is heavily reminiscent of the flatfish known as a halibut with an asymmetrical face and contorted fins

An increasingly large number of climate resilience talks I've been involved in are bringing up the fact that trying to keep ecofascism from slithering into laws is yet another problem to deal with while doing climate legislation.

The US media ecosystem has a fascinating pipeline I've noticed which can culminate in ecofascism, which accepts the existence of global warming as an opportunity to genocide the global majority they see as not white. Completely in character for the country, and increasing part of local climate talk.

It's probably for the best whales have little to no sense of taste. The amount of ammonia in giant squid flesh probably makes it taste like stale urine.

If you mean this literally, on the left it is Soviet nostalgia blinding them to material reality of the modern federation. The right like it because it's the big strong authoritarian substitute papa leadership they're desperately craving. Aspirational, believing in Russia's current propaganda.

As many people have already said, it's a great distraction from their material policy failures.

Having conversations trying to motivate people leads me to believe that to the vast bulk of the US population, anything truly disruptive is only something scary barbarian foreigners do. A real pushback is admitting the nation and by proxy the self is a failure. It's ego death to many of these sorts.

The social consciousness in the US has been extremely effectively atomized. You can do collective action, but from my experience it's like pulling a gallstone without anesthesia. I think respectability is part of it, because in talking you learn true disruption "just isn't proper". It's"uncivilized"

Probably the normal trend of once something starts being considered a "real" field once enough men get into it. Then in the process of professionalizing, everyone who isn't a white man of social standing is excluded. You saw it with the formalization of restaurants as an industry.

It's not a new point of contention, you saw this sort of thing in the 80s or earlier. But yes, the US has had a (now centuries) long linguistic convention of using the word American to exclusively refer to things to do with the country.

Likely for the same reason black and white photography dominates depictions of civil rights movements in the US despite most having a wide availability of color photography- to artificially distance the events from what is current. It seeds the notion of all of this history being vastly removed.

My rough assumption now us that much like when the US installed a dictatorship in Guatemala over the potential of nationalizing unused land, the official government policy will be that any potential profit or land lost during industry nationalization under Chavez is "theft"

If its anything like Guatemala in the 50s, he's counting all potential profit loss when Chavez nationalized several industries as "theft"

As far as I can tell, the engrained cultural consensus in the US is a bone deep assurance that everyone else isn't a real person, and things that happen to them aren't fully real either beyond thought experiments.

As far as I can tell, religious plurality (within restricted parameters) is the one acceptable individual independent identity marker which can be kept to assimilate into whiteness. Language, dress, and to a large part diet have to be discarded in favor of Anglo-Americanisms.

I won't speak for any other country, but the US breeds a very specific culture of individualism which discourages this kind of Rebellion at the root unless it's in service of reactionary movements. There have been many attempts, but all were crushed successfully, and snuffed from popular memory.

Presumably like several other times it happened, a few public faces will suffer but the vast majority will simply wait a few decades before relaunching the project.
