I still wonder, however, what evidence they have that adult owners have appropriate discretion to determine that they’re qualified to safely operate the vehicle? Rivian doesn’t have an age restriction for purchase, after all.

Rivian finally appears to admit that possession of a drivers license is not sufficient for safe operation of their insanely powerful and heavy vehicles.

Not only does the cost go up, but it'll also make the entire economy progressively more dependent on low gas prices. When the 2040 election hinges on fuel prices, and candidates are arguing about gas taxes, we should draw a direct line to this.

This was a really bad interview by Lovett. I can't believe some of the things Jon let him get away with. For instance, he didn't even push back at Hilton's citation of the Cass Review to justify taking away health care from children. Jon needs to be better prepared before going into these topics.

🤯 A car-free car racing event? Sounds impossible! In the Netherlands last weekend, nearly all of the 110,000 fans attending the #Formula1 #GrandPrix arrived by bike or public transit. Cars were practically banned. Ironic to say this: but it's a masterclass in sustainable mega-event planning.

If @speakercoughlin.bsky.social is serious about improving transportation accessibility and equity in NJ, then he needs to take responsibility and repeal his disastrous E-Bike registration law.

The bigger factor here is the XBL through the LT. Cost drives some of the mode shift, but speed is why even brownstone owners take the 126.

It’s also interesting that your 2nd vehicle permit costs less than your 1st. Here in Hoboken, we discourage multi-car households by scaling up the price for subsequent permits.

I spent a day touring Hoboken’s streets last year with leaders from the Wasatch Front. I don’t expect them to drastically change their approach everywhere, but some concepts are easily transferable. Daylighted intersections, 20mph urban speed limits, municipal bike share, raised intersections, etc.

This piece has a significant factual issue running through it, from the headline to the final sentence. I want to flag it in case a correction or clarification can be made. Specifically, the vehicle described in this story IS NOT AN E-BIKE.

The incident itself is tragic, and I don't mean to minimize that. But framing the incident as connected to e-bike regulation spreads confusion about a topic that's already hard for the public to follow, especially since it conflates vehicle categories with very different speeds and capabilities.

Electric motorcycles have required registration and insurance for many years. Even motorized bicycles, which are capped at 28 mph, have required state registration since 2019.

Andrew @njtrainsit.bsky.social · 06/08/2026
Using the definition cited in the article, the vehicle involved in this crash would not actually qualify as an e-bike under New Jersey law. A vehicle capable of 31 mph fits the definition of an electric motorcycle, which falls outside the scope of the recently passed legislation.

Do you know why these massive trucks exist, and what can be done to scale them down in this country? I'm constantly amazed at how other places seem to operate just fine with smaller trucks, but I assume I'm missing some technical rationale for our bloated machines.
