As wearable tech advances, privacy protections should keep pace with it. A5478, sponsored by Asm. Robert Karabinchak, would require wearable recording devices sold in NJ to have a visual indicator—like a red light— when they are recording so people nearby can know when it is happening.

In 2016, New Jersey passed a law protecting pregnant students in higher education, recognizing that no one should have to choose between starting a family and finishing a degree. A5493 would extend that same principle to students who are raising children.
