Yesterday, I attended my very first protest rally. It appears that the Liberal National Party of Queensland is following the playbook of the orange idiot in the states. As much as I hate linking to a News Corp Australia website... this article made my decision to attend the National Day of Action in my state. Peter Dutton has hinted he supports US President Donald Trump’s moves to stop trans people competing in sport against biological girls, declaring that allowing it to occur is “not in the spirit of sport.”

The latest update in a series of updates it seems! Recently I had the fun of being injected with a chelated form of gadolinium, affectionately known as an MRI contrast agent. It makes fluid filled …

There’s something about waking up at 3am every morning that just gives you that extra bit of time to blog. Today we’re touching on what happened to my GeoCities Archive. A while back I …

What the actual fuck Australia? When it comes to politics I am very left leaning and the echo chambers I frequent tend to be left aligned. Oh, aaaaaand I might not have voted. But what the hell are…

This all started a bit grim finding a flattened cicada being attacked by ants and a dead beetle who probably couldn’t get to soil. But there’s always a story to be told and her one lies…

We’re on day 25 of the never-ending headache. The good news, however, is that I have been to a neurologist who prescribed some indometacin (US: indomethacin). Indometacin is a nonsteroidal an…

We’re on day 11 of having a headache on the right-hand side of my head. It does not respond to ibuprofen, naproxen, paracetamol, or diclofenac. Just my luck. The only thing that seems to be h…

After having a headache for nearly a week I figured I should get it checked out at the local GP. Thanks to having a somewhat decent health system in place, I had a CT scan just one hour later. Havi…

Click the image above to beam on over to the full playlist. Clocked in at 2 days, 14 hours total total. Wow! I always play in cinematic (or easy mode) for most games. I guess I consider games a nov…

Where to start with the last few days. Why not here! The RetroChallenge 2022/10 results are in. Looks like I nabbed the Grand Prize. Not too bad. SuperNick also got a place, congratulations! SuperN…

My ResMed AirSense 10 AutoSet trial arrived a couple of weeks ago. After setting it up and picking some starting options the data flowed for roughly two weeks. Nasal pillows are not suitable for me…

Quick heads up, this is a post for my own reference. The above is a screenshot from here. Another awesome thing about using tar files is that you can search for things in them and extract them base…

With August nearly out of the way, I thought I should do a quick post on what’s been happening. First up we have Bloodbourne (PS4 edition). I’m afraid to say I am terrible at it and it …

First thing, I should probably note is that this was from relatively early on in my testing with VoIP back in 2021. I didn’t use anything fancy apart from the VoIP box, some phone cables and …

This elegant snake-eyed skink (Cryptoblepharus pulcher) skink was delivered to me on a winter evening. It was found in a warehouse trapped under old computer equipment. It was likely trapped there …

Honestly, why do landlords even exist in modern times. Didn’t we leave medieval times behind us a while back? This is a rant on how my landlords illegally increased my rent. Above are the thr…

The Australian Ibis is the best bird wandering the streets. It overcame adversity and now excels at being a hunter on Sydney nature strips. Perhaps irrelevant to this post but cool nonetheless. Unl…

The TP-Link VR1600v VDSL/ADSL Modem Router. Just a word of warning, this post does not result in a successful firmware dump. Over five days I had a look into how to dump the firmware off a spare mo…

Last year we were playing around with the Macintosh Classic, thanks to Pendleton115. We wanted to get it internet ready but were having issues with the HTTP/0.9 limitations on the modern web. The M…

Over the course of the Australian 2022-2023 summer I did a little collecting. At the end of cicada season, March 2023, I went and grabbed as many shells (exuviae) as I could find from a few differe…

I really don’t like small fans. Dreamcast, looking at you. Then again, I’ve added small fans to things in the past. Right Netgear DG834Gv5? Above we have the smash hit follow up to the …

This modem was purchased in May 2021 and you might recognise this modem from June 2021 when the capacitors were replaced. As you can see in the above video this was originally a boxed modem in bran…

Ahhh yes, health. For long time readers of this blog, you’ll know that I’ve done some weight loss a few times in the past – all in the name of health. I’ll have an update on…

Back in mid-2022 I was given this modem as a gift, and while I wasn’t looking for any V.92 modems I figured I’d document it. While I tend to be a little more V.32 or V.34 inclined, I am…

I saw this awesome dial-up modem spectrogram from ten years ago while hunting something or other modem related on archive.org. I was curious if I could replicate it. I don’t have any clean so…

This modem takes me back to late-2021 when I purchased it. That’s not surprising I guess. This is an AM5690. What does that mean? Probably something along the lines of AutoModem 56kbps V.90. …
