Anti-EU people will often mock the crooked cucumbers rule, but I spoke to a farmer at the market who let me know that the standard box holds 30kg of straight cucumbers, but only 18kg of crooked cucumbers, a 5:3 ratio. EU regulations sound silly, until you give them more than a moment's thought.
