Never has it been so obvious that, as part of the LGBTQ+ community, my country deems the lives and feelings of me and my friends as worthless. I hope some day we are able to look towards the future rather than dwelling on the past while trying to fix problems that are not problems.

My aunt is now looking to sell the car, but something in me wants to get it going just so I have something to remember my grandpa by as I never got to meet him, and as a memento to my grandpa for all of her hard work to get it going and the kindness she showed me throughout the years I knew her.

About 2 years ago, my aunt was given the car back and now it sits under a tarp in a garage. We do not know why the mechanic decided to give up work on the car. The engine is complete, the interior is gutted and the electrics are unfinished.

After managing to prove ownership, my grandma sent it off to another mechanic who died before he could finish. The last and final mechanic worked on it for several years before essentially giving up. During this time, my grandma passed away and was never able to see the car run.

The car sat for a couple more years before my grandma decided to try and get it running, in memory of my grandpa. She sent it off to a mechanic who said he could get it going, but, several years later, he attempted to steal the car by claiming it was abandoned on his property.

Thread: This is my grandpa’s 1965/66 Austin Healy 3000 MKIII. It was parked in the 1970’s and has not run since. My grandpa planned to work on it after his retirement but sadly died in the summer of 1994, only a few months after retiring.
