[🚀 In ATC ’25 on Wed 14:00] How can we bring near-zero-overhead elasticity to ML workloads? Check out “On-Demand Container Partitioning for Distributed ML”. Our answer is 2DFS that lets images be sliced (& updated) on-the-fly while staying 100% OCI compatible. [1/3]

Really sad to see ATC die. I related more to it than OSDI/SOSP as the venue encouraged "hacky" research outside of mainstream systems topics. I am glad we will be presenting at this ATC"On-Demand Container Partitioning for Distributed ML" This will be our swan song. www.usenix.org/blog/usenix-...

Less than a month to the HotOS 2025 deadline (January 15). Submit your “hottest” systems ideas (by which I of course mean most interesting and fun ideas), and come hangout in Banff for two days in May. More details in the CFP at sigops.org/s/conference....

Thank you so much for the goodies @ellapeltonen.bsky.social! It was super fun helping with the organization of #IoT2024 and I am bummed that I couldn’t travel to Oulu for the fun. Thanks for the small taste of Finland and kudos to my fellow #TPCChairs Jan and Isabel for an amazing experience!

Finally had some time to dig into the subsea cable cuts in the Baltic Sea that have gotten a lot of attention lately. Due to the rich fabric of connectivity in the region, the loss of the two cables caused minimal disruption. However, here are some subtle BGP impacts I was able to identify. 🧵
