#NowWatching Pretty cozy so far, and you really can’t go wrong with Simone Signoret and Marcello Mastroianni :)

Well, plus lots of absurd, childish humor to balance it out as well, tbf ;)

Finally got around to implement Ink-based dialogs again. Really not sure at this point in which form to embed this into the interface, I do want to make this playable without mouse at some point. Gonna check out some best practices... #godot #sologamedev #indiedev

Lots of fun for hackers as well, turning grandpa into a walking drone (and probably walking corpse).

Huh, I always found Lost Highway to be one of his funniest and most entertaining ones 😂 All these absurdly overdrawn characters, the dumb cops joking all the time, the score... it just throws so much stuff at you.

Reaching French New Wave territory now, but Godard feels rather style over substance tbh 😂 Early Truffaut has been working much better for me in direct comparison... #LetterboxdFriday #LastFourWatched

Thanks, on the list it goes! Someone crazy enough should try to adapt the Illuminatus! books to the screen at some point... though I guess few people would get the trippy humor these days, and it probably would end as a disjointed mess, haha.

Thanks for pointing out Decoder, sounds super intriguing, never heard of that one before! Wouldn’t have guessed this from the poster alone 😅 Not many German cyberpunk/hacker movies around, I can very much recommend letterboxd.com/film/23/ though.

Watched a bunch of The Archer's movies as part of my chronological to-do list, and I have to say there were exceptionally hard to get into when having grown up in the 90s, and far removed from the influence of British culture and it's inner turmoils 😅 Artistically exceptional, though!

More like utterly moral-draining and not so much controller-breaking, I was playing Turrican on the Amiga, had a phantastic run and got farther than ever with lots of extra lifes to spare, felt like a king. Then got hopelessly trapped in a confusing level with a time-limit and lost everything 😩

For these sorry clowns art and culture is nothing more than textured soup they want to come out of their tap. Nothing that communicates anything, tells a story or delivers a message, just shallow, completely disposable, exchangeable entertainment formed by half-digested cultural artifacts.

Nah, it's about as much a "job" as ordering food and requires about the same amount of skill. I'm not even saying that this is bad in itself (who wouldn't want their wishes granted?) but these bozos think ordering food makes them author of the recipe and the cook as well. They are just customers.

I'd call this having character and a personality, as "real art" (okay yeah, in a somewhat specific sense) is a personal expression, of emotions and a consistent state of mind, warts and all, instead of just a soup cooked up from the random remains of stale human artifacts.

What I love about the setting is that, in contrast to the typical bland dystopian cyberpunk scenarios, this was an optimistic, non-dramatic look into the future from a technological standpoint, while of course ultimately being a "we weren't meant for paradise [on earth]" tale.

letterboxd.com/film/peeping... Stretching the definition veeeery far 😅 this was once-"popular" merely as a notorious career destroying movie that received disgusted reviews from every side. In hindsight it feels like it came like 20 years from the future and holds up really well.

Recently watched this after having been made aware of it's existence through a blog post about a weird computer game adaptation of this from 1980 (yes!) Thoroughly enjoyed the series: - best intro ever - lots of trippy ideas (Rover) - watching McGoohan's face is like 50 % of the fun

Yeah, and it turns that one-dimensional "here is my game how _I_ want you to experience it, master it!" into a way to set your own priorities in a session. Also boost replayability...

I feel System Shock was way ahead in 1994 in that regard. It didn’t just feature general difficulty modes (which often feel super vague to me tbh), you could fine-tune your experience, turning off the story, puzzles, and higher "mission" difficulties would introduce a time-limit.

Found out you actually can prepare .import files with desired import parameters, and Godot will just pick them up and do the rest. That offers some intriguing workflow possibilities, like presetting looping or bpm values for audio files exported from DAWs via script, hmmm... #godot #indiegamedev

Nipsky @nipsky.bsky.social · 26/09/2026
Hmm, interesting, might have to give it a closer look and see if I could integrate some of it's ideas into my audio workflow. I'm working with Reaper (which is quite flexible for game audio preparation) + my own Godot audio systems. Setting up more stuff right in the DAW sounds intriguing.

Stupid question, does FMOD have any specific killer features or this more like a industry-proven convenience package devs use so they don't have to set up their own dynamic sound/music system?

Can relate a lot 😅 I eventually caved and embraced switching to a different project if the fire is gone for the current one. At least in my experience, I switch back to the old one sooner or later, if it was any good, and often with a clearer perspective.

And it makes objects easier readable for the player for navigating and knowing which objects might be interesting or interactable. Not visible in the screenshot but I usually like to add small blinking animations to important objects to make the player aware of them.

Had some fun (between all the bugfixing) to work on some pixel art for objects, giving the maps a sense of place :] And I’m realizing complementary colors and lighting can do a lot of lifting for a palette that has just a few to many gray and drab tones 😅️ #screenshotsaturday #indiegamedev #godot

I remember this one very vividly, pretty trippy cyberspace game. I had no idea what the goal was (no manual and all). Learned only much later it was actually about helping someone on some kind of cyber heist.

I wonder what the endpoint of all this will be. It's not unimaginable that at some point there will be services for people to just "dream up" games with no manual input or labor involved anymore. But wouldn't this get boring very fast and make people crave for actual human-authored stuff even more?

I remember it was practically impossible to blow up buildings (crucial to some missions) without damaging the guy. In any way, I never found out how to do it right and it gave me nightmares.

Fire & Ice on the Amiga by Graftgold. I still have vivid memories taking home a copy from that one relative who had a massive collection of pirated games. Played it non stop for days until it turned out the second disk had an error, crashing every time at a specific point 🥲

Feeling this a lot 😅 I think it only really becomes an issue when you end up wasting time or shooting yourself in the foot by changing too much stuff and having to change it back later. Trying to balance this by keeping new features modular, so the worst case is a new module for another project.
