Had a nice evening activating #pota NL-0051. At my 16th QSO I noticed I was sitting smack in the middle of a very busy colony of ants. They weren't there when I sat down, I'm sure of it. Managed two more QSOs while standing and brushing off the ants, but I […] [Original post on dotnet.social]
Grassy dunes and blue sky somewhat cloudy, no direct sun is visible.
I'm the front is a yellow cable and a bit farther away a vertical antenna is visible.

First real #QSO from home. The setup is less than ideal, but I managed 5 QSOs in 90 minutes. (Including 4 band changes, I wanted to test the setup.) Noise-floor this close to the house is more a ceiling than a floor: Most of time my noise-floor was around S7/S8 […] [Original post on dotnet.social]
Some radio gear and some cable lying on a brown chair. A yellow cable connects from the radio, over the side of the chair, along some grass to a black and silver vertical antenna.

In the back is a green sun umbrella and to the left of the picture a sandbox is visible.A black radio connected to a small blue battery pack via a red and black cable. A yellow cable is also connected to the radio.
Everything is placed on a brown chair and below the chair grass is visible.

I've built a 70cm/2m duoband Yagi-Uda and while it is not done yet, today I used it to listen to the FM crossband relay on the #ISS. This is, by far, more complex than I ever imagined: Watching the phone for the position and frequency, keeping the antenna […] [Original post on dotnet.social]
On a dark brown wood floor: an antenna with two long and three short elements. On the bottom of the boom a short piece of cable and a small black radio are visible.

#HomeAssitant people: How would I go and debug this error? It seems tts worked fine, and the items in question ('coffee beans' and 'shopping list') were parsed correctly. (This worked fine for months, but it seems it's broken now.)
Something that looks like violet communication-bubbles on dark background. The first: "Kaffeebohnen auf die Einkaufsliste" in the middle something that looks more like code it has properties loolname: HassListAddItem, item:Kaffeebohnen, name: Einkaufsliste
The last bubble contains the text "sorry, I couldn't understand that"

My Dymo LabelManger stopped working some time ago, today I had the time to look at it. Mine, as well as most others I found on the Internet simply died of old age. Didn't use it that much, say every other month or so. Alas, it is coming up at ten years of age […] [Original post on dotnet.social]
The fixed part. A black plastic thing on a white background. Ok the right side a milky white glue is attached the plastic A black plastic hinge with a metal pin pushed out of the hinge on a white background. Next to the hinge is a small spring which on one end is hold by a bent needle-like thing

My trusty Ryobi charger stopped working. After opening it up, it prominently featured a blown MOSFET. Additionally, I found a shorted Schottky diode. After replacing the MOSFET and two diodes (the shorted one had another in parallel, which measured fine but I […] [Original post on dotnet.social]

Nothing to see here. This is perfectly safe. I guess. Maybe. A little. Did I mention I'm afraid of heights?!
A wooden contraption standing on reddish/brown stairway. The wooden "thing" stands on metallic feet which are at different heights. Three of the feet are standing on one step while the fourth is standing on a different, lower step. Because the feet are not long enough there is a piece of wood propping up the one foot on the lower stair.Small construction scaffolding standing inside a house, in front of a light/beige wall. One part of the scaffolding is standing on a stairway and, as it does not fit one single step, the whole thing is standing on a wooden contraption and does not look safe at all.

A German app on a German (Display lang) android. Built by a German IT company, for connecting (mostly) German speaking doctors to (mostly) German speaking clients. Still, the notification obviously fails to render German umlauts. 🤦 #fail #Android #umlauts
A push notification on android: A light gray on black message bubble containing the text "Sie haben neue Daten empfangen. Ä~ffnen Sie ihre App um neue Daten ab..."

[Rant on electricity] WTF is this?! I mean the house was built in the late 80s (1989, I think) but everywhere I look at electricity it looks like it's been done in the early 60s.. 🤬
Maintenance panel of some electric wiring removed on a white wall.
A black box with LOADS of wires in black, blue and green/yellow also some brown wires are visible.
The whole thing is dirty AF.

In the middle of the picture is one black cable that looks like it should be in the wago clamp but it's not.

Did I mention #3dprining is the best hobby, not only on Christmas? 😬
Section of a Christmas tree, some lights and some ornaments are visible.
Among the ornaments are an X-Wing, a TIE-Fighter, a Santa frozen in Carbonite and a Death-Star.A section of a Christmas tree, in the center is a Death-Star ornament, the part where laser Array is, shows a glowing green LED.

Yes - is that kind of day. Every single tool battery I own is empty. 🙄 #diy #woodwork #ryobi
Four dirty Ryobi tool batteries (lime/black colored) on a wooden floor. Three are in chargers and the chargers are plugged into a red, round extension cord

I can not use (German) umlauts in passwords? WTF!? Does anyone know if this is an Azure thing or a policy of the tenant I'm currently in? #password #fail

I don't know who needs to hear this, but... If you printed one of those brilliant MasterSpools in PLA.... Don't simply throw them into your dryer... 🤦 #3dprining #diy #MasterSpool
Part of a white spool, with a very visible dent in one side.
The word "MasterSpool" is visible on the right side.
The background is a beige tiled floor. Something green is visible on the bottom left corner and some boxes on the top right

My Xbox controller decided to release some magic smoke when plugged the USB cable in, so I decided to investigate a bit. I found a blown diode (D23) which, after some investigation turns out, happily heats up (even to the point of burning) when the voltage […] [Original post on dotnet.social]
A PCB in shades of green. The center is a black IC around it are "large" beige blocks with silver ends and "small" black blocks with silver ends.
All parts have some text next to them. The IC is marked "U1" above that is a small beige block marked "C7". Below the IC are beige blocks marked "C8" and "C9". To the right of those are black blocks marked "R18" and "R16"Close-up of the upper right part from the other image. A black block with some metal on top, the metal is clearly broken and the edges are somewhat charred.
There is a diode-sign and the marking "D 23" below the block

Ah, memories... Found a box of "software" and guess what was in there... #suselinux
A hand holding two CD covers.
The one on the front is dark with a blueish structure on it. It's title says "S.u.S.E. Linux 4.4.1".
The one in the back is light with a yellow structure on it. Readable is only "Linux 6.1"
