iiinova — where your digital self keeps evolving

So yeah, an update on this. I didn't get better by the end of the weekend 🙃 And now I can't talk above a whisper.

For Victor, I think bowling or pool. Both take learning and thinking about how the balls move, so he'd love perfecting his technique. Gonna say he probably prefers pool since it's a different game every time. Farish is a martial arts guy~

Mark's the sports person of the group, and he loves soccer and basketball--though he's happy with anything that lets him run around~ Rota's the opposite and doesn't know any sports XD But I feel like she'd like skating or badminton~ Especially ice skating once she gets used to it.

Niki Bond @nikibond.bsky.social · 3h

Seth already likes swordplay, so fencing? But also, I could see him playing baseball~ He'd probably be good at hitting the ball~ Marty already does archery~ Meri could do cycling. She likes driving and stuff already~ Either that or boxing to get out some energy XD

#AwesomeCharacters Emily loves the water, so she'll do swimming~ Koujaku would go solo with either darts or gymnastics. Ritos... Maybe there's like an angel version of volleyball he could play~ Where the whole court is kept in the air or something. I'll have to think on that one >.>~

So, we get some of this conversation in kidlit from the people looking for "boy books," and I'm here to tell you as a librarian that books do not have a gender. There are no "boy books" or "girl books." Kids don't give a shit, and neither should adults.

Victor: ^^ A sweet, gentle soul like a certain young woman I've found. Farish: Er--I dunno. I guess someone who just gets me, even when I suck at communicating.

Niki Bond @nikibond.bsky.social · 12/10/2026

Meri: I don't know--just someone I get along with, I guess. As long as they're not a jerk or a dumb flirt, anyway. Mark: Mmm... I haven't really thought about it. ^^' I'm not exactly looking for love, and I just sort of feel it with friends, you know? Rota: Um... Someone dashing, and romantic...

190

Niki Bond @nikibond.bsky.social · 12/10/2026

Seth: Someone who's smart, and determined, and kind... Someone who saved me, even when I refused to save myself. Marty: Kindness is important to me, but it doesn't always have to be apparent. Sometimes, it's one's actions that show their true heart.

Niki Bond @nikibond.bsky.social · 12/10/2026

#LitHodgepodge Emily: Right now? >.> Honesty. I feel like everyone could use a bit more of that. Koujaku: I'd say someone who stays true to their values. Ritos: A beautiful smile~ 😉 And trust me, ladies--you're more beautiful than you think~ 🧵

Unsolicited writing advice, no. 8260: Whatever genre you write, read folklore. Folklore exists because at some point, people cared so much about a certain thing that they put it into a story, and passed it down the centuries in order to keep it alive. That deserves attention.

#Octember Let's make this a real mystery, shall we~? I'll lay out the suspects and potential weapons. Ritos has been found on the floor of the cargo bay, knocked out (not dead, luckily!), and detective Marty is on the case with Nanashi to help with clues! For potential suspects, we have...

Niki Bond @nikibond.bsky.social · 11/10/2026

For potential weapons, Marty has found, scattered around the ship: A frying pan. A tonfa. A wrench. Hints of wind magic. A book. A griffin figurine. See if you can help Marty solve the mystery. Just leave a guess, and Nanashi might just have some intuition to prove it right or wrong!

Emily's in a guest room. Koujaku's in the galley. Seth is in the captain's room. Meri's on the bridge. Mark's in the infirmary. Rota's in the mess. Victor's in the mechanical room. Farish is in the lounge. All of them have moved recently. (Weapons below!)

I feel a little better after taking a shower, but it's still being persistent 😭 I also had a whole plan for my meals this week, but I haven't felt up to cooking, so the pizza dough for one of them's gone bad. I have a back-up solution at least, but it's just annoying 😭

Mark's also results, but more subtly--you might not even notice him doing it 🤫 Rota tries so hard to be honor. But she has broken from it before--and got punished for it. Victor's results. He doesn't mind bending the rules a bit~ Farish is an honor-type. If he makes a promise, he'll stick to it~

150

Niki Bond @nikibond.bsky.social · 11/10/2026

being a fugitive and all XD I think Marty kinda... sits in a weird spot in the middle? Like she tries to hold true to honorable stuff, but also, she's the one who decided to save Seth when he became a fugitive XD Meri's results. She'd kick the rules if she could.

150

Niki Bond @nikibond.bsky.social · 11/10/2026

he could have more agency and stuff, he's definitely the type that'd break whatever promises or rules he has to for what he truly believes in. Ritos believes in his honor as an angel, and he won't go against the goddess' will... though bending it might be okay~ Seth is results. He kinda has to be,

150

Niki Bond @nikibond.bsky.social · 11/10/2026

#AwesomeCharacters Emily would want to maintain her honor--but to her, her honor is being a hero to those in need, so she'll do whatever she has to for that~ Koujaku's definitely results. She'll keep her friends safe, even if she has to be shady to do it. I'd say Nanashi's also results. Like if

180

Niki Bond @nikibond.bsky.social · 11/10/2026

Y'know, she *loves* mysteries, so that just might do it XD

Niki Bond @nikibond.bsky.social · 11/10/2026

Oh! I don't have that listed on her favorite foods, but I might just add that, 'cause I could see her loving it XD So yes, great job on both trapping her and helping me build on her likes :D'

Let's try a racing video game!

120

Niki Bond @nikibond.bsky.social · 10/10/2026

Y'know, I've never imagined her wearing a hat, but I think she could pull a cute one off nicely~ So she'd be curious, at least~

120

Niki Bond @nikibond.bsky.social · 10/10/2026

She doesn't care about designer stuff, but if it's cute enough, she might be curious! So depends on how cute and how obvious the pit is XD

Niki Bond @nikibond.bsky.social · 10/10/2026

She would be trapped while holding the bunny in her arms

Maybe I could use that angel's feathers to draw him in?

130

Niki Bond @nikibond.bsky.social · 10/10/2026

She looks like she'd love a good book~ Maybe romance?

#LitHodgepodge You get Marty for today's prompt~ Best of luck trapping her!

A picture of Marty. She has dark brown skin and red hair tied behind her head with a braid and red eyes; she's wearing a dark pink dress that's pleated at the bottom and decorated with black. Her sleeveless jacket is purple, matching her gloves. She's wearing pink boots with black accents.

🧵, but also I REALLY want to emphasize "the book is written the way it is for a reason." I sometimes see things like "I don't know if X was on purpose" and yes, yes it was. Unless it's an actual typo or some formatting accident it's on purpose. The author did that on purpose.

#PretendPanel I've always loved writing, ever since I was a kid. It started with coming up with stories for characters my sister and I made, and then I got into fanfics. I knew I wanted to be an author one day, so I made sure to learn more about writing technique with every fanfic I worked on~
