I’m in the same boat, but I’ve given up being an artist at all. I have no idea what I’m going to do anymore and I hate being a burden to my family.

Honestly a comment and a repost does wonders. PARTICULARLY the commentary, if you can't put financial help in an artist's gas tank, you can fuel their creativity by saying what you like about the art they make. 75% of creatives have little self esteem, you can help loads with a kind word.

I was finally getting an art groove on, was feeling really good about how a drawing was turning out. Then I showed it to a friend, and he completely deflated me and I’ve once again lost all desire to draw. Just… what’s the fucking point anymore.

Which is by doctor’s orders, ironically enough. Sorry, I just needed to let shit out. I don’t know what to do anymore.

000

Cloud @nihlyria.bsky.social · 02/09/2026

Any hope I had in this world died in 2019. I have nothing left, I don’t even have the will to live, but I do because I have to. But once my mom dies, I’m done with this world. She’s the only reason I have a roof over my head or food. Hell she fucking pays my 14 sub just so I can interact with people

100

Cloud @nihlyria.bsky.social · 02/09/2026

Can’t even get art commissions, my only lively hood, like I’ve completely given up on that. Which is probably why all desire to draw is dead, no one likes or shares my art, so what’s the point? It must be awful.

100

Cloud @nihlyria.bsky.social · 02/09/2026

If I could somehow make 200$ before the 20th, that would be fantastic. Just putting it out in the world, trying to manifest money. Don’t become disabled in the US, kids. It’s a horrible, miserable existence where you have no future when you can’t work.

When people say they’re anti-AI, they’re clearly talking about generative AI in the arts and LLM slop that C-Suite jackoffs want to use to replace them. You know this. I know this. Everyone knows this. So the “then don’t use spellcheck if you hate AI” talking point is disingenuous horseshit.

please understand. artists don't get nearly as much feedback (praise, comments or otherwise) as you think they do. much less than years and years ago. we don't know how much you like it. we don't know how it affected you. unless you say something, or recommend it, comment, reblog. anything.

81 hours of print time later… It’s going on top of a walking stick. I haven’t decided if I’m going to paint it or not, because the first filament ran out and I didn’t have the same kind, so there’s a noticeable slightly lighter black line.
