Nightingale Cider Co @nightingalecider.bsky.social · 15/10/2026And while they're doing an important job in the orchard, their fruit certainly doesn't go to waste! These apples will be heading straight to our press this afternoon, with the juice likely to find its way into next year's Night Bird and Tenterden ciders. 2/2 020
Nightingale Cider Co @nightingalecider.bsky.social · 15/10/2026Yesterday was another busy day of picking here on Gibbet Oak Farm, with Alex and Martin from our production team out harvesting Idared apples in our Egremont Russet orchard this morning. Idared apples are pollinators and they're dotted throughout our orchards. 1/2 152
Nightingale Cider Co @nightingalecider.bsky.social · 12/10/2026From two mates making cider for the fun of it to 18 years of pressing apples, learning the craft and doing what we love. Here's to 18 years of cider making (even if we've only just realised it). #CiderYes #DrinkGreatCider 4/4 010
Nightingale Cider Co @nightingalecider.bsky.social · 12/10/2026What began as a bit of fun gradually grew into something much bigger. Sam turned their shared hobby into a professional cider-making business. So, it turns out our story goes back a little further than we thought... 3/4 100
Nightingale Cider Co @nightingalecider.bsky.social · 12/10/2026That’s right, we’ve actually been making cider for 18 years. It all started with two best mates, Sam and Dave, making cider together as a hobby, long before Nightingale became the cidery it is today. 2/4 100
Nightingale Cider Co @nightingalecider.bsky.social · 12/10/2026Sorry...We've been lying to you 😳 We owe you a bit of an apology. For years, we’ve been telling you that we started making cider in 2009. But after digging through the archives, we’ve uncovered photographic evidence that takes us all the way back to 2008! 1/4 110
Nightingale Cider Co @nightingalecider.bsky.social · 07/10/2026Luscinia takes its name from Luscinia megarhynchos, the Latin name for the common nightingale, while Turtur comes from Streptopelia turtur, the turtle dove. Both are rare birds, and both have nested right here on the farm this summer, making the names feel special. #CiderYes #DrinkGreatCider 020
Nightingale Cider Co @nightingalecider.bsky.social · 07/10/2026A couple of new arrivals at the farm... Last week, we christened two brand new (to us!) tanks, and naturally, they needed names with a little Nightingale connection. Meet Luscinia and Turtur. 1/2 161
Nightingale Cider Co @nightingalecider.bsky.social · 30/09/2026Sam and Kim recently popped into The Jolly Fisherman in Hastings, a proper old-school pub housed in an 18th-century building, with a selection of craft beer, cask ales, Belgian bottles and ciders. Our Dabinett Bramley cider collab with @rosscider.bsky.social was pouring, so we had a glass! 033
Nightingale Cider Co @nightingalecider.bsky.social · 29/09/2026This week, we’re picking Redlove apples 🍎 They might be small this year, but the sugars are incredible and they’re absolutely packed with flavour. We can’t wait to see what they bring to this year’s vintage. #CiderYes #DrinkGreatCider 080
Nightingale Cider Co @nightingalecider.bsky.social · 24/09/2026Falstaff apples: one of the fantastic varieties that goes into our Night Bird and Tenterden ciders, bringing lovely tropical fruit notes to every sip. We’ll be picking them in the next few days. #CiderYes #DrinkGreatCider 161
Nightingale Cider Co @nightingalecider.bsky.social · 21/09/2026After a busy few weeks building our very own pressing set-up from scratch, our press is officially up and running! It’s a huge step for us: fruit from our orchards, just 100 metres away, can now come straight in to be pressed, with everything packaged on site too.👏 #CiderYes #DrinkGreatCider 052

Nightingale Cider Co @nightingalecider.bsky.social · 19/08/2026We’re currently busy picking Discovery apples, and they’re looking fantastic this year. The fruit is a little smaller, but sugars are high, which is normally a positive thing for a great vintage! We're very excited to see how it tastes. #CiderYes #DrinkGreatCider 1122
Nightingale Cider Co @nightingalecider.bsky.social · 13/08/2026The iodine turns blue where starch is still present, creating these rather lovely eclipse-like patterns. As the apples ripen, that starch converts into sugar and the blue disappears. When there’s little blue left across our samples, the fruit is getting close to harvest. 2/2 050
Nightingale Cider Co @nightingalecider.bsky.social · 13/08/2026Partial eclipse of Discovery 🌘🍎 We’re keeping a close eye on our Discovery apples as we wait for the right moment to pick. Alongside measuring Brix, we use an iodine solution to check how much starch remains in the fruit. 1/2 171
Nightingale Cider Co @nightingalecider.bsky.social · 12/08/2026And, of course, we made sure to sample a few of the brilliant beers pouring across the festival too... Thanks to Beak Brewery for taking care of us! #CiderYes #DrinkGreatCider 2/2 000
