Nightharrow @nightharrow.bsky.social · 25/08/2026I’m just looking for permission to use it to create a free resource for the community. My hope is there are some artists out there that have done some sketches just for fun. Text only pages just seem kind of sad. 000
Nightharrow @nightharrow.bsky.social · 25/08/2026Any artistically inclined Cosmere / Brandon Sanderson super fans interested in collaborating to make Spren playable classes for the #ttrpg? I’m happy to do everything but the artwork. This is just for the fans/non-commercial. It just seems a shame that they are not playable. #cosmere #roshar 110
Nightharrow @nightharrow.bsky.social · 22/08/2026My ttrpg group tonight… GM: You can be anything you want! P1: I want to look like Danny DeVito in a spirit of Halloween wizard costume. P2: I want to be LeBron James in a diamond studded bathrobe with a crown. The others seemed “normal” until they started organ harvesting their slain foes. 020
Nightharrow @nightharrow.bsky.social · 19/08/2026You should check them out, sounds like you will like them. 000
Nightharrow @nightharrow.bsky.social · 19/08/2026I’m going to go out on a limb here and guess that you really like Drizzt/Salvatore’s soliloquy’s. 100

Nightharrow @nightharrow.bsky.social · 19/08/2026You guys have anyone that would want to chat on stream to let people know what you’re about? 010
Nightharrow @nightharrow.bsky.social · 19/08/2026ESO’s monetization has been predictors for many years at this point. Reference Epic Mounts in loot boxes with drop rates of fractions of a percentage point. But I imagine they are just trying to get out what content they can at this point. Probably plenty of stuff was left half done. 000
Nightharrow @nightharrow.bsky.social · 18/08/2026How would you rather the social commentary on current political climates be handled? 100
Nightharrow @nightharrow.bsky.social · 18/08/2026I’m legit camping at a con because I’m too cheap, and don’t mind sleeping in a tent. I thought that’s what you meant at first. Lol 000
Nightharrow @nightharrow.bsky.social · 18/08/2026Where do I find out more about your gargoyle game? 110
Nightharrow @nightharrow.bsky.social · 15/08/2026I really think AI GM’s are going to work great, and can’t wait for Wizards execs to do what no digital game company has ever come close to doing. 140
Nightharrow @nightharrow.bsky.social · 14/08/2026I see why people have been upset by the art. And more than a little disappointed. 000
Nightharrow @nightharrow.bsky.social · 14/08/2026Just going to tease that and not share how you did it? 🤨 000
Nightharrow @nightharrow.bsky.social · 14/08/2026Valid. It’s a totally different style of game, and doesn’t play anything like the other games. 010
Nightharrow @nightharrow.bsky.social · 14/08/2026Ah, I agree. I just recently learned about hack master. I reinvented the wheel making a count up system but apparently that one has been around for a long time. Haven’t tried it myself but when I have playtested my own count up system, our take was very similar to what people say about Hackmaster. 000
Nightharrow @nightharrow.bsky.social · 13/08/2026I firmly believe the greatest sin of game design is a lack of imagination, so your points about aspects of gameplay not being exclusive to particular mechanics are well taken. Not something I expect the average gamer to know or care about though. Designers I hope for more though. 010
Nightharrow @nightharrow.bsky.social · 13/08/2026I think here was some of my point when expressing my preferences. "The most action-packed, high stakes portion" of a game I would like to be structurally rigid in how it's decided. This is what makes me feel like Im playing a game, and not just make believe. 110
Nightharrow @nightharrow.bsky.social · 13/08/2026I never suggested they where mutually exclusive, Im not sure where you got that idea from. Nor did I suggest that dice rolling mechanics or irl strategy required turns, so Im a little confused. I would think you where straw manning my argument, but I was never trying to make one. 100
Nightharrow @nightharrow.bsky.social · 13/08/2026Ah okay, we might be at opposite ends of the spectrum then. I generally prefer ttrpgs where the dice rolling, strategy, and general game mechanics help tell the story, more so than just the narrative/RP interactions. No shade to the other side, just my preference. 100
Nightharrow @nightharrow.bsky.social · 13/08/2026Sure you might have an athlete retire because all they have done is be at the top of the game winning everything in their sport for years, but that’s not the same thing here. Imagine a chef saying “well, I’m done, that’s the best meal I can ever make, and it’s just disappointment from here.” 000
Nightharrow @nightharrow.bsky.social · 13/08/2026The real issue is the company’s talent left, and they have known for years that they couldn’t make a better game than what they have already done. Think about that. Do you know of any other athlete, artist, business, etc… that’s like “sorry guys, that was the best I can do” because I don’t. 100
Nightharrow @nightharrow.bsky.social · 13/08/2026I mean, ESO isn’t exactly the same experience as the rest of the franchise. It’s more like a different game set in the same universe. So pretty understandable why people who like those games don’t consider ESO content for them. 100
Nightharrow @nightharrow.bsky.social · 13/08/2026Do you like some of the other ttrpgs with different turn systems or just daggerheart? 101
Nightharrow @nightharrow.bsky.social · 13/08/2026Pretty sure that one guy was jumping over row to help, and his partner was helping. 020
Nightharrow @nightharrow.bsky.social · 12/08/2026That’s wild my dude. I thought the alarm would go off if you put more than one plate on. 100
Nightharrow @nightharrow.bsky.social · 12/08/2026True, but I think the real problem is 99% of systems are not designed to balance equipment as part of the overall character concept. Typically, at best, magic items are roughly balanced against each other. 020
Nightharrow @nightharrow.bsky.social · 12/08/2026Well deserved. And tbh I think you deserved gold. What an amazing looking product. 010
Nightharrow @nightharrow.bsky.social · 12/08/2026Yeah, that’s fair. Too many abilities rely on Dex or Int so it is easy to just juice those, and ignore other things. One of the many problems with GURPS. I set non-combat point allocations myself, but I completely agree this is a problem. And this doesn’t solve it entirely. 010
Nightharrow @nightharrow.bsky.social · 12/08/2026Ima be honest, I think you keep it with your jewelry so you can put it on every morning. At least that’s what I would do. Lol Congrats on the award! 000
Nightharrow @nightharrow.bsky.social · 11/08/2026Yeah, that could be because other systems don’t do gritty tactical combat nearly as well, so perhaps it dominates the space. In classic fantasy settings high strength is by far better than most other options ceteris paribus. But I still don’t see a lot of plate clad Conans running around. 020
Nightharrow @nightharrow.bsky.social · 11/08/2026Haha I’m not sure I can fully wrap my head around what that was like, but it is a pretty funny image. Lol I often find them currently to be half helpful, half shocked by my ignorance of not having an encyclopedic knowledge of the game. Although at this point I probably know more than most. 010
Nightharrow @nightharrow.bsky.social · 11/08/2026“I think this guy wants to make snarky unreliable narrators for military science fiction novels, in the same way that i want to make druids with a perfect moral compass and 15 animal/plant companions” For the record their moral compass is that of an eco terrorist. Lol 020
Nightharrow @nightharrow.bsky.social · 11/08/2026I checked with some fellow GURPS players and it seems no one has ever made that kind of character, or feel it was pushing them that way. One did have a funny response though. 220
Nightharrow @nightharrow.bsky.social · 11/08/2026Probably not? I played in the 90’s but I was young and mostly used the family pc for gaming. Couldn’t clog up the phone line with the interwebs. lol. 110
Nightharrow @nightharrow.bsky.social · 11/08/2026What? I’ve been playing GURPS for a hot minute, and it has never felt that way to me. Care to elaborate on what in GURPS feels like it pushing you in this direction? GURPS has plenty of problems, but this is not one I have encountered. Unless we are just using different language for the same thing. 210
Nightharrow @nightharrow.bsky.social · 11/08/2026We started by asking what they were doing and why. And then we explained the Civil War and WWII rather briefly with some family’s personal experiences thrown in. We left not knowing if we had gotten through, but the next day they had taken the flags off. 110
Nightharrow @nightharrow.bsky.social · 11/08/2026Some college aged kids were driving up and down the beach in their truck with a rebel flag on one side, and a Nazi flag on the other. Needless to say if you know me, I wanted to have a “talk”. But cooler heads prevailed and myself and another friend did go over to talk. 110
Nightharrow @nightharrow.bsky.social · 11/08/2026A very valid point. Unfortunately I think people can tune this stuff out, or worse, embrace it. But if confronted, and have to deal with it, might react differently. I can give a rather extreme irl example… Sometime in the 00’s I was on a beach in the south. 110
Nightharrow @nightharrow.bsky.social · 11/08/2026I can also say I was looking to cover this topic years ago, as I know many people that use/have used machine learning in their research. But the topic was so hot that I didn’t feel like I could have a conversation in the ttrpg space about how it is used for good things, as well as bad. 020
Nightharrow @nightharrow.bsky.social · 11/08/2026Yeah, that could also be the circles I navigate in. So I have covered digital games for years, so many people I get into rpgs come from that. I also do pick up games at local stores, or the equivalent online. Not at all uncommon for someone to use one of the sites while playing or shortly after. 210
Nightharrow @nightharrow.bsky.social · 11/08/2026But making people feel bad for not know also doesn’t help, or help them understand. Before AI many people just grabbed images wherever they could. So using AI doesn’t seem any different to them. They were not going to pay for it anyways. Information and a coageant argument is needed. 310
Nightharrow @nightharrow.bsky.social · 11/08/2026It seems like there is bifurcation in the ttrpg space, and generally not much meaningful dialogue is going on. I get the frustration, it’s hard to have to explain to people why they should care about the environment, war in Ukraine, AI companies stealing creative works, or genocide. 110
Nightharrow @nightharrow.bsky.social · 11/08/2026This is really cool, and I’m sure most people have no idea it exists. Most groups I know of use AI. And when I run open groups it’s pretty common to see. I don’t know what the numbers actually are, but I suspect most groups do in fact use AI. 110
Nightharrow @nightharrow.bsky.social · 10/08/2026I really liked Hero Forge when I first discovered them years ago. My question is, has their printing improved so that it doesn't break almost instantly? 100
Nightharrow @nightharrow.bsky.social · 10/08/2026FWIW, they are working on it. Like actually working on it, not announcing they are working on it to generate hype for their other products. But I also wouldn’t get my hopes up. Their last handful of games have been mid at best. The talent may have left the building at this point. 000
