"Days Gone" is a damned good game, and I'm ashamed I judged it based on its "white-guy biker, so meh" vibe. Yeah. That's definitely the vibe. But it's much better than that. To the point there are moments of wokeness. And the horde battles are some of the best console gaming around.

Just a privacy reminder: turn off WiFi network on your TV. If it works fine now, you don't need those updates. But WalMart (e.g.) needs those snapshots of what you are watching/playing for extra revenue. In my experience over the last couple of years, updates just fuck up the viewing experience.

Hey, #WritingCommunity, what do you use for version control? I'm a software developer, so I just use git. I use LyX for my editor, giving a plain-TeX (pun intended) doc format, so I can use git features like cherry-picking; it makes sense. Wouldn't work for binaries as well. So what do you use?

Grew up in Southeast Alaska, but our feed was from CBC. Sure, we got MASH and All In The Family (which probably explains why I am the liberal I am today), but we also got things like Beachcombers. This show was unique, and very few shows can claim its pedigree.

The idea of AI emitting binaries instead of source is the most bone-headed idea pretty much all time. First, it's a tragic waste of resources. Compilers are efficient and deterministic. AI is orders of magnitude less efficient. Creating binaries for different targets is a huge inefficiency. 1/2

After 1469 days of uptime, I finally upgraded paperdove.org from Debian 9 to Debian 13. Also, I re-provisioned the service, so I have 4 times the RAM and SSD for the same price. Now to set up Apache/Nginx and Postgres. I used to love sysadmin stuff. Not so much anymore.

Took a coding challenge for an interview today. Gotta say, not a fan. First two were pretty easy, with obvious simple elegant solutions. Third question had simple solution, but was not elegant. I get that; see what applicant knows about engineering. Don't fall for simple solution. Did simple.
